Taste of Thai, Saturday Evening

Fact: Natasha needed dinner. Other fact: Natasha couldn't cook. Well, she could microwave things and make eggs. That was about it. Cooking was simply not part of the standard assassin skill set, and she'd never been anything else, so there had never been opportunity for her to learn. And the SHIELD cafeteria was open twenty-four hours a day.

But now? Takeout. Lots of takeout, and thank goodness that for such a tiny island this place had a decent selection of restaurants. Today she felt like Thai, so she headed over there and placed an order for dinner--plus enough to reheat for lunch and dinner tomorrow. Mmm. Noodles.

((Open restaurant is open!))

Noodles were always good. Especially when you were a growing boy. A growing, healing from a big, gaping injury boy.

"Hey," Tony said, nodding at the redhead as he searched for what he wanted on the menu.

Well, Natasha. Since you're not blond, you're safe from this version of Tony Stark.

For now.

"New in town?" Not that Tony was normal when it came to teenage behavior.

"Welcome to the magic of Fandom," Tony replied with a wry grin. "You'll get used to it eventually."

A beat.

"Or move away."

As she should!

"Name's Tony," he said, offering a hand. "And I am indeed a student. Most people here are."

"Clint," Tony said, eyes going wide for a moment. "Well. This is going to be awkward, isn't it?"

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2012-06-17 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Tony Stark," he said with an apologetic shrug. "Age seventeen and not fighting aliens."

A beat.

"As far as I know. Things are getting weird back home with mutants starting to show up..."

"If it helps, I didn't tell him until he talked up the other me for a while." Which was nice.

You know who else loved noodles? Bobby Drake. Bobby Drake loved noodles. Well, okay, he loved all food, but Thai was apparently on today's agenda.

And doing a double-take when he spotted Natasha.

"...Tasha?" he ventured tentatively. Could just be a look-alike. Although he'd yet to run in to any of those; usually the people who looked like people from his world were just... from a different version of it.

Well, it was only half no.

"The answer to that is either yes, no, or yes and no at the same time," Bobby offered helpfully. "See, if you're the person I'm thinking of- Natasha Romanova- then I've met you, at the very least. It's entirely possible that you haven't met me yet though. Unless you're not her at all, in which case we're only just meeting now."

"Bobby Drake," he said, not even blinking at the slightly different surname as he stuck out a hand for a handshake. He'd had it explained to him once that it was the version she used when she felt like laughing at people who were too stupid to know that wasn't how Russian surnames worked. "I- guess you could say I worked with the other-you for a while." He wasn't really fond of going in to too much detail regarding that sort of thing when there could be squirrels around.

Well, to be fair, it wasn't like anyone on-island who didn't already know (some version of) her would've had the slightest clue what sort of work she did when not running gyms.

"Ahhh, no. It was a little more- freelance."

"Right," Bobby nodded. "Of course." He got the message clear enough, a sheepish little shrug accompanying his words. Yes ladies and gentlemen, it was apparently possible for Bobby Drake to take a hint. Try not to faint from shock.

Well, maybe she didn't, but the one he'd lived with in LA certainly had. "Good to know," he said. "I might check it out sometime." He was pretty sure she had reason to be in Fandom beyond 'just running a gym', but. Clearly she wasn't about to get into it. He could respect that.
