Magic Box, Monday
Surreal was cranky.
No, she wasn't going to tell you why she was a snarly-witch today. No, she didn't have issues regarding her sire, thank you. And if she did, they weren't your business.
Which was why the surly witchling was behind the counter, practicing some knot-magic very intently. She didn't have the gift for it a hearth-witch did, but that wasn't going to stop her from turning her bit of cord into a mass of knots out of spite.

Cara's definition of fine, mightn't have been the same as most people's.

In case, for once, Cara actually needed something? ...Surreal kinda hoped that wasn't the case. She enjoyed the blonde's company on her boring Monday shifts.

"What are you doing?" she asked, coming over to the counter. "Looks interesting." Cara liked knots, big surprise there.

Surreal held up the finished product (http://tjmoss.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/cimg1274.jpg) with a smile. If baring your teeth was a smile. "Knot magic. I'm no hearth-witch, but sometimes it will work anyway, if it's simple enough."

Cara used a finger to follow the pattern of the cord without actually touching it. "Nice work." Look, she really liked knots. "Though the using them for magic's new."

"I can teach you the knots, if you want. They act as a focus for your Craft, so if you don't have the right...tune? Frequency?" Surreal stumbled over the unfamiliar wording in trying to describe it to someone not Blood, "-then nothing will happen, other than now having a nice knot in a perfectly acceptable bit of cord."

"I'd like that," Cara said, briefly smiling back as she took the knot, running gloved fingers over it to see how it was put together. "I could show you some of the knots Mord'Sith use, they're useful even without magic."
