It had only been two weeks since Victor was in the shop, but somehow it felt much longer. He kept checking through the supplies to see what had changed.

Once he was relatively certain nothing much had, he tuned the store's sound system to a Spanish-language radio station that reminded him of home and started flicking through a couple camera instruction manuals online. It might come in handy if he ever got asked to repair one.

Prof Tomoe was surprised to see Victor behind the counter as he pushed open the door to Stark industries. He didn't pay a whole lot of attention to what his students got up to outside of class, so he really didn't know (or care much, to be honest) who worked where.

"Mr Mancha," he said. "How nice to see you again so soon."

"Oh, hey," Victor said, friendly but a tiny bit wary because ... wasn't this the guy who had kind of tried to pretend-kill them a few hours ago? "How are you, professor?"

Why, yes. Yes it was. And he enjoyed every minute of it.

Prof Tomoe grinned. "Wonderful. I do so enjoy class days."

He let the door close behind them and stepped further into the shop. "I was wondering if you do special orders, as well as repairs. I want to set up a small lab here in town to continue my personal research, and I need some ... specialized equipment to do so."

"Probably," Victor said, and scruffed a hand along the back of his neck. "I may need to run it by Samus, she owns the place, but the multiverse hub thing means we have access to ... almost everything."

He eyed Tomoe carefully. "What did you have in mind?"

And why were the words mad scientist coming to mind so easily?

Because 'mad scientist' was a pretty accurate description?

"That's fine," Prof Tomoe said. "My areas of scientific specialty tend to fall into the realms of both genetics and Morris-Thorne theories, so I'm just looking to get some of the same equipment here that my home lab in Tokyo has, to continue my academic studies. Nothing too dangerous."

Well, nothing fatal, at least.

"That shouldn't be a problem," Victor decided. "Give me your list and I'll put the orders in."

He glanced over thoughtfully. "So, you do stuff with ... what, cloning and wormholes? Interesting mix."
