Devil's Nest, Monday, 8/13

There was a large pot of deep green-and-pink Venus fly traps at one end of the bar when Jack got into work today, and to his eyes they looked hungry. He briefly considered going to the kitchen to scope out some raw meat to feed them, but decided the wiser course was to leave them where they were. Instead, he went to add Derek to the employee rolls, keeping one eye on the new greenery.

It turned out to be the right choice. Tiny got very involved fussing over the plants as soon as he came in. Jack could swear he heard actual cooing, as well as a snatch of a lullaby. He decided not to be disturbed by bartenders with carnivorous plants for pets -- at least, not until the plants got much larger.
