Jack got to the club late. He'd spent the day in Baltimore, finalizing the paperwork for his college re-enrollment, and between being shuffled from one office to another and a cab driver who got lost finding the causeway, the whole day was eaten.
When Jack finally made it to the club, he was met by an irritated look from Tiny. The bartender, it turned out, had forgotten his key.
Jack had some paperwork to take care of. He took it over to a stool by the door so he could check IDs while Tiny tended bar. It was a gesture by way of penance.
