After some mortifying assistance from Ace, Topher was at work. And he was very busy today, actually. You know. Hating his girlparts and all.

It wasn't even that they were gross and girls were weird, though both of those things were true. He just liked looking like him. And not being all weird and unbalanced and stuck in some other body that could be anyone's, really, and who knew what she got up to in her spare time?

...Right then.

If you needed Topher, he'd just be fixing a radio. Or breaking it more so that he could fix it even better. It was hard to tell.

Billy remembered how much Topher had loved this whole thing the last time it happened, so as soon as he'd woken up (and after Mercy had stopped giggling at him) he'd headed for Stark Industries to see how Topher was doing.

"I was really hoping you'd escaped this time," he said after coming in, taking a look at Topher and frowning.

"Ugh, you too?" Damn you so much, Fandom. "I mean-- not like, 'ugh, you,' because that's mean, I wouldn't say that, but like, 'ugh, you're also a girl, that is unpleasant, sorry for your loss.' Just so that's clear."

So yeah.

"Hi."

"Hi," Billy said, smiling softly. "I'm sorry too. I know this isn't fun for you. But at least we're going through it together? It'd be really bad if it was only one of us, you know?"

"I guess," Topher said dubiously. "Maybe if it was, like, only one person in the whole school, or something. That would suck. But when it's most people I figure it's pretty much equally sucky. Probably."

"Definitely equally sucky. Have you had an okay morning? You know, all things considered?" Billy asked, leaning against the counter.

"Um." That was a complicated question, Billy! "Ace had to help me figure out a bra? So... that was awkward."

"Oh, I can imagine," Billy said, making a face at that thought. "Mercy helped me last time, so I got it this time, but...yeah, it's still kind of uncomfortable." He shifted a little, as if to show the annoyance of underwire.

"Girls' lives suck," Topher proclaimed. "They look all weird and they have to wear awkward clothes. I think that's the lesson here."

"Yeah, but people open doors for them, and buy them things just for looking nice, so I think their lives are a lot easier too," Billy said with a snicker.

"...Wait, really? That's not fair." Such was life, Topher. "Can I complain about that?"

"I don't think I can stop you, can I? You're on a roll," Billy teased.

[dollpocalypse]

"I meant to, like, an authority," Topher clarified. "But I can just complain to you instead. I don't like it."

"I don't think there's any authority who can help us," Billy said with a pout. "They're either going through the same thing, or they're women who'd laugh at us and tell us to deal with it."
