Rooftops of Town, Friday night

When she didn't see anyone who was clearly from SHIELD earlier, Jessica became a little concerned. So she figured there could be worse things to do than hang out on a rooftop late at night and see what happened. After all, she still had word that someone would be there. She just didn't know who. But, she reasoned, what better way to get their attention than being someplace odd in a flashy costume?

Of course, this meant some waiting around.

Which wasn't boring at all. Until Yakko ran across the roof holding a bag that seemed to be struggling. It was probably Jessica's duty to take care of that but it seemed like a bad idea. And anyway, it sounded like she was just about to have the last company she would have expected.

"Was that a dog carrying a person off in a sack?" Spider-Man asked as he landed on the roof next to his female counterpart.

"More or less. But it's okay, he's a teacher. The dog guy, I mean. Well, I guess there could be a teacher in the sack, too," Spider-Woman explained. "Doesn't matter. I have a better question."

"Better than 'Was that a dog carrying a person off in a sack?'" Spider-Man checked as he stepped over the edge of the roof and onto the side of the building so he could get a good look at the town.

"Significantly better than that one," Spider-Woman said, following Spider-Man onto the side of the building.

"Is it, 'What are you doing here, Boy-Me?'" Spider-Man checked.

"It's like you can read my mind," Spider-Woman said.

"Apparently SHIELD doesn't have too many assets to spare for a school visit," Spider-Man said. "But now that I'm an official SHIELD trainee, they were able to send me along after my school day was over."

"It would have been earlier, but Aunt May put her foot down."

"Wait wait wait, since when are you a SHIELD asset?" Spider-Woman checked.

"Since Carol Danvers convinced May that it was time I got some actual training from actual heroes," Spider-Man said. The eyeroll was epic, if hidden behind his mask. "But I can't complain too much. I have Thor and Iron Man showing me the ropes. And Captain America barely tolerating me."

"Yeah, well, he's kind of a tool," Spider-Woman said. "Okay. Back to wait wait wait. Why are you getting personal training from the Ultimates while I'm here at school?"

"Gender bias?" Spider-Man suggested. "And hey, at least you're not alone for the weekend. You've got your loving, suspiciously similar-looking cousin around. But don't worry, my hair's different now, so nobody will put anything together."

"You're going to be my cousin?" Spider-Woman checked.

"Why not? It's working back home with me, Bobby, and J--" Spider-Man stopped short. He wasn't going to say the 'J' word in front of Jessica. He wasn't going to. He couldn't. It would make his brain scream more, and maybe also his mouth. He couldn't be sure.

"... And we don't even ook anything like each other."

Thank you, red full-face mask for hiding any blushing! "Well, you and I can certainly overcome that problem," Spider-Wman said. "Okay, fine. Meet up in the morning in civvies?"

"That's what I was thinking," Spider-Man said as he pushed off the wall and fired a webline. "See you then! And in the meantime, see if you can get them to build taller buildings really fast."
