The Park, Saturday afternoon

The town was extra quiet this week, to the point where Coulson felt he should probably add just a tiny bit of noise to the world. In this case, that noise was the turning pages of a newspaper in which, strangely, it seemed like there was nothing but good news. Maybe it was a joke newspaper or the editor just bought a kitten or something, but Coulson would take it. A day like this really made it good to be alive.

[OOC: Speaking of good news and Coulson being alive: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Can be open, sure, even if I mostly posted JUST TO SPAZ OUT A BIT.]

Across the way came bumbling a nice sized puppy. Well, if you looked past the pages of newspaper flying everywhere there was a squirmy bundle of happy happy fur running through the grass.

"Come back here, you crazy dog! What kind of news dog are you?"

And Carl soon followed, trying to catch all the newspapers that were escaping from the dog's carrying satchel as well as the dog. When the pup barked and started chasing round a tree after a squirrel, Carl took advantage and paused himself, trying to catch his breath.

"You could say that," Carl managed. "He's still in training."

"Paper delivery." Carl frowned a moment. "Think walking him would help?"

"So I see. That puts you in a rare spot," Carl's tone was dry, and he shifted the pages of the Gazette he was clutching. "People don't seem to really care much about news here. Coupons and gossip and I daren't forget the weekly puzzle."

"Tablet?" Carl frowned. He was caught up on some things, but not unless it crossed his path.

"Handheld, huh?" Carl could see that happening; he had a portable tape player, after all. "But I don't really see that making a difference. A computer isn't a paper. It can't report the news."

Carl thought about that for a while. "Not sure I understand that," Carl admitted. "It's like a clippings agency? Someone takes the stories from the papers and types them into the comp... the tablet? Hm."

"Does everyone have one of these tablet things?" He shifted the papers a little and reached for his recorder, hitting the record button. "If so, it's not just the radio and general apathy that I have to compete with."
