the docks ; sunday afternoon
The explosion that had blinded him oh so long ago still haunted Sam to this day. They'd never found out who'd set that explosion and they'd never charged anyone which meant the person who'd done this to him, who'd made the act of wearing dark sunglasses in the bright sunshine happen was still out there.
It could have depressed Sam but he hadn't let it. No. He'd risen to the top of his class and become the LaCroix prodigal son, managing to run an empire without his sight. He'd been in magazines, on billboards and on television and on the radio.
But, the terror and fear still lingered inside him. Someone was still hunting him and he just felt like something was coming for him. Again. He was already blind. Would deafness be next? How much more could he hurt?
And he honestly didn't know how he'd gotten down to the docks but he was there now, contemplating his life.

"Sam!"

Yes, even after knowing Natalie's voice so so well, he still had to play the part of the blind guy and ask that with terror in his voice.
"Who's that?"

It didn't make sense but what did. "Are you all right, my love?"
no subject
That was such a poorly written line.

"Are you in danger?" Sam asked, frowning. "Oh no, I've put you in danger! I'm so sorry!"
He wasn't really listening very well to her. It was all about him.
no subject
Goddammit, Sam!
"I've done something terrible, and I'm sorry."
no subject
"What have you done?" he asked. "Tell me what's wrong!"

Although she did look really sexy with her short bob.
no subject
He had to bring that up at every chance.

And this was a reveal that had to be dealt out in itty bitty chunks, because somehow that would make it more dramatic.

He was such a one note actor. He'd need to work on that if he ever wanted to get into movies.
"Who's coming for you, beloved?" He hated the dialog they gave him. "Who could it be?"
no subject
Draaawing this thing out, yeah.
no subject
He could tell she was trying to steal the scene from him and it was annoying but he was going to persevere. "Tell me before I get more blind!"
no subject
There. Scene secured!
no subject
"Your husband?" His voice was pained and strained. "You have a husband! You didn't tell me! What else have you been keeping from me because I can't see?!"

He winced in pain and managed to emote that even though he had dark sunglasses on.
no subject
"I was just trying to start over! I never meant to hurt you, my beloved. I never loved him, not like I do you!"
no subject
And he was going to take this goddamn scene back from her!
"You loved him first!" Sam said, pointing an accusing finger at her. "I was a substitute! A replacement! And now he's coming back and you decide to tell me! It's all over!"
no subject
Because they kept forgetting about her assassin background story.

He inched closer to the end of the pier and then twisted around, voice swelling. "You broke my heart!"
And then he accidentally stepped off the pier and into the raging waters below.
no subject
"Noooooooooooooooo!"
And not doing a damn thing to try and get him out because everyone knew you died instantly when you fell into water, right? Especially if you were blind.
