The Perk, Saturday Evening

It was open mic night at the Perk, and Victor Mancha -- international singing sensation whose warm smile hid a crippling history of vocal amnesia -- was ready to take the stage. The coffee shop was a bit smaller than the stadiums he normally played, but he liked the intimate setting as a way to connect with and thank his island fans.

It also saved the producers the cost of building another set.

He stepped onto the small stage that maybe hadn't ever been there before and sat down on a stool, cradling an acoustic guitar, then smiled with endearing shyness at the audience. (At least, he hoped it was endearing. He spent a lot of time on that expression.)

"Welcome to my homecoming show," he said. "This is for all of you lovers out there."

And then he plucked a few chords and began to sing.

Evan, the poor, oblivious kid that he was, had just wanted to go to the Perk to get himself a cup of coffee to curl up with while he read on one of those comfy couches they had here. He really hadn't been anticipating the entertainment tonight, and was a little miffed when the usual barista insisted for some reason that it was soda only for him since he was a minor, but overall...

Well, the singing was pretty okay, he decided, smiling up at the stage. He had no idea that Victor was into the performing arts like this!

By this point, Jessica was clearly just trolling people. That's why she threw smiley face boxers onto the stage during the performance.

It had been a rough day. Bruce and Jaina were in comas, Stacey was dead of rare tropical disease, but Annie had still been looking forward to this.

Because this concert- and Victor- were so totally her way out of this life.

"Oh, Victor, you were wonderful!" Annie gushed, knowing deep down that that song was for her.

"Of course I came. Nothing could stop me," Annie said, eyes wide...r than usual. "Now we can run away together!"

"How about the whole world?" Annie said. "All of it!"
