Jeff, God of Biscuits, Sunday Afternoon

Given that today was a Sunday and therefore not a day where she would be in danger of skipping class to eat cookies (which all things considered, Yeul thought was a terribly mild sort of danger and rather amusing to contemplate besides) that made it a perfect day to wander down to, and then inside, J,GoB.

While on other days Yeul would be perfectly content to eat cookies by herself if the urge struck her, today was not that sort of day.

Luckily, thanks to very important cookie plans made on Friday, she would not be alone for long.

[Yeul is expecting someone but totally open, sure!]

Not long at all. Because it was only a couple of minutes before someone else walked into the shop, all smiles and giggles. "Quit that, Pascal," she squealed softly, swiping at her neck. "It tickles!"

After a moment she added. "You can have a cookie if you quit it!" See! Bribery.

Oh! And there was Yeul!

"Hi!" Rapunzel chirped, skipping over toward her friend.

"Hello!" Yeul said with a soft laugh. "I see you are well today! Bribery, though?"

Tsk tsk, Rapunzel!

"Just do not let him always get his way."

Rapunzel giggled. "If you think it's so easy, you deal with him for a day."

That'd teach you!

"Besides, he's allowed to enjoy cookies, too, right?" A little green head peeked over her shoulder and gave a firm nod of agreement with that sentiment.

"I see that I am out voted." Yeul didn't sound like she minded one bit about that. "I suppose I will concede gracefully and agree that he may enjoy cookies as well."

Three for three now!

Another giggle. "I'm glad you agree. Because cookies should be shared..."

Speaking of... "So! What kind should we get?"

"That depends," Yeul said, pretending to think about it seriously. "How much sugar did you feel up to eating?"

Rapunzel's eyes totally darted to the side there. "Um... is that a trick question?" she asked, grinning.

"There's always oatmeal cookies to be had if you want to pretend they are healthy," Yeul said lightly. "You might have wanted those!"

Totally a trick question.

"We can have those, too!" Rapunzel did not discriminate when it came to cookies.

"Perhaps my question should have been 'how many cookies are you planning to eat'?"

Yes, that was sounding about right.

She laughed. "I think I will not eat so many as you."

"Why not? I don't want to be greedy. You can have as many as I do!"

That... wasn't the issue, Rapunzel.

That really wasn't the issue!

"No, no!" she said, entirely amused. "It is just that I suspect that you will want to eat more of them than I will."

"You don't like cookies?"

Also not the issue.

Oh dear.

"I like cookies!" Yeul protested earnestly. "I do. I just do not generally eat very many of them at once."

"Oh." That was okay. "As long as you're sure..."

Rapunzel pursed her lips. "Maybe we should pick some for each other? To share?" That might be fun!

"That could be fun," Yeul said, echoing the narrative all unknowingly. "And there is no rule that says we cannot take the cookies we do not eat now with us back to the dorms."

Er...

"Is there?"

"I hope not," Rapunzel said slowly. "But maybe we should ask?" She glanced worriedly at the girl behind the counter.

She'd hate to think she'd broken the rules before!

"Maybe if we don't ask," Yeul mused, "we cannot get in trouble."

That would totally work, right?

"After all, I am sure many people buy cookies and then eat them elsewhere?"

Rapunzel nodded slowly. "Yeah, that's true. I've seen people eating cookies in the park and stuff!" Good catch, Yeul.

"So I'm sure we'll be fine."

She grinned suddenly. "And with that decided, we should go pick some!"

"How many?" Yeul asked, drifting over to the displays to see the offerings. "Even if we take some with us, we shouldn't buy an entirely ridiculous amount."

... Right?

"Hmm... I suppose." Rapunzel only sounded a tiny bit disappointed.

"So... a dozen?" The cookies were big, but not too big, so... a dozen was reasonable, right?

"A dozen is good," Yeul said cheerfully. "Six cookies each? Oh... perhaps we should get a few more, so that Pascal gets his cookie?"

And only getting one extra cookie would be lonely...

"Fourteen?" Rapunzel could have the other extra cookie!

Rapunzel grinned. "Better safe than sorry," she decided with a nod.

"Which means all we have to do is figure out what kind." Which was the hard part!

"At least two oatmeal and raisin ones," Yeul suggested. "Because then we can pretend the rest are vaguely healthy too."

That didn't really work, Yeul. Also the oatmeal ones were her favorite.

Rapunzel giggled. "Good plan."

"And some with sprinkles!" Because they were colorful, okay?

"But do we want the ones with chocolate and sprinkles?" Yeul asked, pointing them out. "Or the ones that are not chocolate but still have sprinkles?"

Very serious question. Clearly!

"Can we have both?" Pleeeease?

"I mean, you can never have too many with sprinkles..." Right?

"Why am I unsurprised that that's your answer?" Yeul's smile was slightly wry. "But both seems... doable."

Rapunzel clapped excitedly. "Yay!"

She ducked her head slightly, flushing a bit as she grinned up through her lashes at Yeul. "Am I that predictable?"

"Only because there is sugar involved," Yeul said lightly. "I am sure there are things I can't predict about you."

"Well, that's something, at least?" Rapunzel grinned.

"So. Oatmeal raisin. Two types with sprinkles..." They were... almost half way there! "What about some of these? With the green and red sugar on them? They look very festive!"

"I agree," Yeul said, peering at them. "Let's get some of them. Do you understand the holiday they are for?"

Because Yeul sure didn't.

She glanced at the rest of the cookies. "I like the look of those ones, with the jam in the middle. What about them?"

"I think it is the one with the presents?" Rapunzel wasn't really clear on the full significance, no. "Most people seem to go home for it."

Oh, jam! "Good idea! And, oh! Look! They're like little sandwiches made with cookies!" Overflowing with what looked to be an incredibly rich sugary creme filling.

"There are chocolate and vanilla ones of that one as well," Yeul noted, casting a glance at Rapunzel. "Did you want to get both kinds?"

Hmm... "One of each? And we can share?" Because there were a lot of varieties to choose from!

"I am amendable to that."

Yeul was extremely easy to shop with. She was amendable to almost anything.

"What else should we get?"

Rapunzel was frowning at one of the displays. "What is orange zest? It sounds tasty!"

"It is the skin of an orange," Yeul said. "At least, assuming zest is the same thing here as it is in my world. The cookies would be citrusy."

"Oh! That sounds lovely!" Didn't it? "Those!"

Hmm... what else...

Yeul took a moment to count up what they'd been picking out. "I think we're at fourteen," she said, mildly surprised. "Already."

"Already?" Rapunzel pouted for a moment, then sighed. "I guess that's the problem when everything looks so delicious..."

Oh well...

"We can always come back," Yeul pointed out, smiling. "The cookies will not just disappear."

... Hopefully.

"Well, it is Fandom," Rapunzel pointed out with a giggle. But she didn't really sound worried about it.

"Since it is Fandom, perhaps the cookies will come back if they do disappear."

Yeul thought about that. "It's entirely possible."

"I don't know if I'd trust magically disappearing and reappearing cookies..." Rapunzel squinted. "They might do weird things. As you said: it is Fandom."

"I think that is part of the risk we take being on this island," Yeul mused.

Rapunzel sighed. "Yeah." But she couldn't stay melancholy for very long because: cookies!
