Demon Marcus, Sunday
Okay, so maybe Sparkle had missed a few shifts over the past little while. Could he really be blamed? He had been taking care of an animal-transformed girl who was prone to shifting into a badger and threatening to claw out his eyes. Plus, you know... holiday season, new semester, and the ever-popular, 'he just couldn't be bothered.' But then this morning he'd fallen out of bed and realized that there were holes in his favourite pair of yellow socks.
His yellow ones. It was a travesty that needed to be remedied as quickly as possible with a pair of replacement socks, which, of course, he could just pick up at work. So okay, maybe there were benefits to showing up to work for reasons other than being worried that his demonic boss was going to eat his spleen or something. And, you know, getting paid or whatever.
So... yellow socks. Maybe ones with stripes...
Or polka dots?
Oh! Or toes!

"Yeah, you look like you fell right outta prep school," he mused, shrugging. "That is, if prep school had an army of like old grandmas knitting sweaters for school uniforms. But I don't think you being with me would make all that much difference, honestly."
It was kind of adorable that he thought it might, though.

"What, like, go run sock errands for me?" Had Alec seen the clothing that he was wearing? "I'm capable of buying my own socks, man. Seriously. Never gonna turn down company if it's offered, but, really, sock buying is a process."
Or, it was if you were Sparks.

Probably better than Sparkle was.

Oh, this was gonna be good.

Like that blue one with the ice cream cones!
... He liked that one, too.
Re: Talk to Sparkle!
Then he glanced at what he'd picked and made a face. "Okay. Maybe not that."
Re: Talk to Sparkle!
Flowery?
"Maybe I'll just make do with the yellow and orange ones. You know. Until we get some better ones on the mainland."
Re: Talk to Sparkle!
Alec was a planner.
Re: Talk to Sparkle!
Weird.
Re: Talk to Sparkle!
Really, it was just the only way to go.
Re: Talk to Sparkle!
"Hey, now. I own other pairs of socks," Sparkle protested, wrinkling his nose. "I'm not some kind of animal, you know. I do laundry and everything!"
Occasionally.

Sparkle wore jeans with holes in them because they were stylish.
"Colourful socks are a splurge, you know. Like, anyone can go out and buy a bulk pack of like five pairs of black socks. But you know how hard it is to find yellow socks for guys in the first place? And you're buying those like, a pair at a time, and they're not cheap."

"What? It isn't like I got any gifts for anyone either, man," he protested. "I've got a job now, you know. I can afford my own socks these days..."
Stubbornness and pride. Yep.
