The Woods, All Day and All Night Wednesday
The stone glowed brighter now. Less like a string of Christmas lights, and more like a bright fire. Sometimes it even flickered, frequently or less so, sometimes like it was running, sometimes like it was dancing.
A teal deer had made its home in the grass illuminated by the stone's glow. It laid there quietly, exuding rest and contentment.
If you dream them, they will come...
[ open for anyone to come and touch the stone, or stumble around trying to find it... anyone touching the stone is NFB. ]

You know it's the right choice, LT!
After another night of restless sleep, he stumbled out of his house and into the woods. The quiet of the place, the wetness on his face from the moisture on the leaves as he passed by-- did something to him.
Screw that. I can hold them off.
He found the stone eventually, the source of all that calm. He laid his hand on the surface and let the glow ease away the pain prickling at the back of his skull.
That won't happen. Go get him, Commander!
He inhaled a breath. Exhaled another one. Felt the calm settle in his bones.
I’d rather be fighting than trust it to somebody else.
Then he let go.

The deer wouldn't talk about it if he looked up at the sky and yelled "KARKING STOP IT!!!!!", right?
Maybe?
Feeling...not even a little better, he went off to see if Caritas was open yet.

This night was no different.
Until she saw the light flickering through the trees.
She approached it cautiously, remembering how the last time she investigated a strange light through the trees she'd wound up in Fandom.
But this was just a rock. Even if it was glowing.
Allie dropped to her knees next to it, cautiously reached out a hand, and let out a short gasp as a feeling of warmth and security she handed felt in years settled on her.
Shaking her head, Allie pushed to her feet and turned away. She couldn't, wouldn't think about what might have been.

She brushed against it and felt such a release of tension, such warmth and calm, that she just curled up next to it and stayed there for a while.

And so Spider-Woman headed deep into the woods, she found her way toward the stone, trusting both the sense of increasing calm and the silence of her spider-sense. She finally found what she was looking for and started to reach out to touch the stone...
... and then she suddenly pulled away. That kind of calm wasn't natural for her. And it was almost overwhelming, to the point where she couldn't be sure if her spider-sense had been muted. She took a few steps away after fighting the pull and the forced calmness started to fade. When she turned back to investigate the stone now that her head was clearing, it was gone. Or, rather, she was in a slightly different place and couldn't find it again.
Spider-Woman figured that if something was going to force emotions on her and disappear the second she turned away, it was probably up to no good. But since she couldn't find anything else, she finally gave up and headed back into town.

Last night, Lucrezia had dreamt of Paolo. His hands, soft against her skin. His eyes, sweet and understanding. His purple lips as he lay, cold and lifeless, against the ground.
She didn't know what she was looking for, as she wandered through the trees. She had torn through these woods happily while a coyote. Now ... now something itched, under the surface of her senses.
Was it a betrayal, to imagine Paolo's arms around her? She could not imagine telling Alfonso. Why did he haunt her dreams so vividly?
She walked through the woods for nearly an hour, but could see nothing here. At long last, she drew her cloak closer around herself and returned to her room.

Oh, great, a glowing rock. Because those never caused any trouble.
She gave the rock a perfunctory shove before turning back in the direction of the town. She needed to find a drink, and Surreal. Not necessarily in that order.
