Today, Mary was getting sales pitches by phone from some agency that rented hotel rooms by the hour. But she wouldn't listen to the sales rep's claims of increased revenue for rooms that were otherwise empty during the day. Mary ran a classy establishment and she would rather starve than make money by renting rooms by the hour.

But it really did help her stay resolved when she knew that she wasn't struggling to make ends meet right now. And she definitely wouldn't go hungry as long as she had Gunther.
