Wellspring Arms and Meditation Center, Friday

Today was a busy day for Alec at Wellspring Arms and elsewhere, but not in the bad way. And also, not in the way that involved doing a lot of work. Go figure.

First thing in the morning, the new suit that Kate had insisted on having tailored was dropped off, which left Alec in the unenviable position of having to choose between putting the suit on or having a garment bag slung over the counter of a weapons shop all day. He chose the former, which just left him looking like an unusually dapper weapons salesman for a while, but then he remembered the tie.

Right. The tie.

With ten minutes to go until the end of his shift and the start of the dance, Alec could be found hurriedly watching a Youtube video entitled 'How to Tie a Tie' and attempting to replicate what the guy was doing. He was doing a very poor job.

[[open shop, and yes, i do realize i made a weapons store post entirely about clothing. i apologize.]]

Kate had still been considering if she wanted to actually go to this dance when she received a slightly panicked voicemail. Andwhile she was laughing about it, she wandered over to Wellspring like a good friend.

"So this guy I know called to ask about tying him up?" She joked as she came in. "What's that about?"

...sorry, Alec. Apparently that was hello now.

OR someone couldn't read plain English. That was also a possibility... Um.

"I should've checked," she said, feeling a bit badly for the worry. "I can do it. Come out from behind the counter first? Cause you're looking pretty good so far."

[identity profile] hawkeye-too.livejournal.com 2013-02-15 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
She took the tie then took a second to look over the suit. "So we have excellent taste. You look hot." Was that inappropriate? Oh well.

Pft, apologies. Kate cared not.

"See, with your hobby, I'd have figured your family a go-to-church-every-Sunday family."

To be fair, leather and churches together usually had...different connotations.

Kate reached up to flip his shirt collar up and pass the tie around his neck. Alec was kind of insanely tall so that was made more possible by him slightly bending, tyvm.

"If the dress code at your home included suits, I'd be wondering more about your tying issue," she remarked. "Why a church then?"

[identity profile] hawkeye-too.livejournal.com 2013-02-15 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"...there are whole societies of demon hunters?" Kate asked. "Do they go by code names?"

What? Totally legit question, oh special one.

"Like you can diss people who wear capes when you go by the name 'Shadowhunters,'" Kate snorted. "Why did you get to live at home base as it were? Though I'm totally just being nosy & curious now."

She tugged him back low enough & looped the silk carefully through the knot and adjusted the dimple. "Nice."

[identity profile] hawkeye-too.livejournal.com 2013-02-15 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, Alec, but Kate was definitely sort of thinking of the Shadowhunters as some established group of superheros. Apparently she'd need a bit more Fandom time to stop that.

"Fashion is trumped by tradition sometimes," Kate said thoughtfully, smiling at his checking of the tie. "Like with capes. And spandex."

[identity profile] hawkeye-too.livejournal.com 2013-02-15 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Kate raised an eyebrow at him.

Really, Alec? Really?

[identity profile] hawkeye-too.livejournal.com 2013-02-15 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"If I ask your friend who's here about the tradition of ugly ass sweaters, he'll agree?" Kate asked.

Not the same thing.

The leather totally counted though. So did the runes really.

[identity profile] hawkeye-too.livejournal.com 2013-02-15 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's not a tradition. That's a habit," Kate informed him with a quick grin. "Nice try though."

Izzy wore 80... okay, 85% purple on a daily basis?

Kate looked down at her totally adorable flats. "Flats look weird when pointy," she replied. "But your sister clearly has awesome taste."

[identity profile] hawkeye-too.livejournal.com 2013-02-16 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
"No one is a sweater fan," Kate pointed out. Because clearly Alec no longer counted there.

"And speaking of purple, thank you for the flowers," she remembered. "That was incredibly sweet."

"I was a guy a few weeks back," Kate pointed out. "It's not like a ...giant hamster-shark hybrid is that much stranger."

[identity profile] hawkeye-too.livejournal.com 2013-02-16 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
She considered that. Considered what might have gone wrong if the hamster-thing had gotten away from them. Possibly she should stop leaping in without thinking about those things first.

Kate forced a smirk up at him. "Don't you mean a rogue chihuahua?"

Hey now, she was a mundie, and her perspective on things was totally normal tyvm.

"Well, we are bored ruffians who kick puppies," Kate confirmed. "It's a good look for us."

[identity profile] hawkeye-too.livejournal.com 2013-02-16 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
There was a real and utterly amused grin. "Because that'd be the best defense ever. 'Sorry, Officer, clearly we didn't go looking for this fight. We're archers.'"

Speaking of issues the mundies might have...

[identity profile] hawkeye-too.livejournal.com 2013-02-16 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Which television show?" Kate asked.

He better not be dissing Arrow. That show was awesome.

"They couldn't arrest us for saying we're archers. They ended reg - I mean, they could think we're idiots, but"

[identity profile] hawkeye-too.livejournal.com 2013-02-16 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
"One, Bow is kind of awesome. Okay the main guy is a crappy archer, but the training sequences fun to watch." Because of the shirtlessness, yes.

"And two... yeah, okay. Civilians get weird around weapons." Kate shrugged. "It's pretty understandable. You don't know the other person's training or intentions. We usually had -" she changed the word quickly to avoid accidentally outing Billy "-a teammate magic us if possible. Which is what I'd figure 'glamour' is?"

Though glamour was one of those old words from fairy tales and elves. Kate was not going to ask if there were elves.

"There's nothing wrong with the aesthetics being the point, Alec," Kate teased, reaching to pat him on the arm.

Her lips quirked at the correction. "Close enough for government work?"

Well, Kate isn't moving in on Alec's man. *cough*
