The bar was almost normal if you ignored the music choices tonight. Because the choice to play Nickelback on loop wasn't exactly the best one.

Because the DJ was either evil or deaf.

Derek's money was on evil. So, so evil. He was just going to angrily work on cleaning the bartop in the meantime.

Time to stop angrily cleaning and start angrily making a cherry coke because Stiles was coming in. Still be-hatted because his hair was in awkward porcupine growing out phase.

"Dude, you have the worst taste in music." Yes, he was blaming you for this.

Derek shot him a look that implied Derek was too dumb to function. Though that might have been his normal look.

So.

"You tell him to change it."

"But you seem to be enjoying Nickelback so much," Stiles said. "I'd hate to be a bad friend and make him turn it off. Especially not after the lesson learned in class today."

You were such a jackass for making him do that, by the way.

"Shut up." Have your angry cherry coke instead, Stiles.

"Thanks, pumpkin," he said, clearly happy with spending an evening annoying Derek. "I have to ask, do you plan on forcing me to help you teach your classes in the future? I'd like to know in advance so I know when to skip."

"Skip and we'll see how well you do with Pinkie Pie."

[robinonadderall]

"I'm not afraid of a pink pony," Stiles said. "I could probably tell her I was off helping Scott or something and I'd get extra credit for being a good friend."

"You'd be lying. Lying isn't good for friendship," Derek informed him helpfully.

[robinonadderall]

"I believe lying can actually help friendships sometimes." Good lying. Not, like, master plan lying. "Besides, she's my teacher. You're supposed to lie to your teachers."

"Try lying to me." Go on. Try it.

[robinonadderall]

"You know I can't lie to you," he said, rolling his eyes. "Unless we're on the phone. I can lie to you then. I think. I'd have to try it out to be sure."

"You can't." You totally could.

[robinonadderall]

Stiles smirked. "I think you're lying to me."

"Drink your soda." Derek, you're terrible at lying to people!

He would, thank you, and he'd do it obnoxiously. "I get around lying to werewolves by avoiding subjects I don't want to touch on or lie by omission."

Sharing trade secrets was fine 'cause it's not like anybody could stop him from doing it.

"I've noticed," Derek replied dryly.

[robinonadderall]

"It's only fair," Stiles said. "You guys can lie to me all you want and I wouldn't know better until I annoy the truth out of you."

After a moment's pause he added, "Well by 'you guys' I mean most werewolves in general. Not you specifically. You're a horrible liar."

"Uh huh. Because you're so much better at lying than me."

"I am a better liar than you." There was absolutely no question about it.

[justlurkinghere]

"Are not." Really, Derek? Really?

"Are too." Well at least Derek won't be alone on the immaturity train.

So matuuuuure. "No. You're not."

"Adding extra words and contractions doesn't solidify your argument." Just so you know.

It did so! "Is there another reason you're here?"

"I'm here to soak up your cheerful presence, honeybunch." Stiles had to make up for lost time while he was in Turkey! There was a lot of annoying to catch up on.

Derek just rolled his eyes. "You couldn't have gotten lost on that trip?"

[robinonadderall]

"Please, if I had gotten lost you would have pulled a Liam Neeson and kicked all sorts of ass trying to find me," Stiles said. "Don't even act like you weren't pining for me all week."

"The quiet was nice." Oh, how he pined for your gentle embrace, Stiles. Your mouth breathing, your vicious assault on all things straw...

"Liar." You missed him and his forcing you to watch bad movies, Derek! "Mike made it seem like it was boring around here last week."

Ugh, shut up.

Derek just shrugged. "The island seemed empty." HE LIKED IT.

"And that somehow appeals to you? You would, you weirdo," Stiles said. "That shit would drive me nuts."

Because Stiles left alone with his thoughts all day would be bad.

Derek gave him a look. Because he'd been willing to live in an abandoned house in order to have his solitude.

"You're better when you're around more people," Stiles informed him. "Nicer."

Probably happier too, but Stiles wasn't about to voice that opinion.

...that was a valid point.

"I thought I had anger issues."

[robinonadderall]

It took Stiles a second to remember what the hell that was referring to, but he caught on eventually. "I wasn't talking about you in class. Except about the arm chopping thing, obviously."

You better not be limb removal cheating on him, Stiles. That was worse than Denny's cheating.

But now he was confused. Because it wasn't like Stiles had that many friends. "Scott?"

Well so long as you don't paralyzed drowning in a pool cheat on him, Derek.

"Really?" Come on, Scott was like a slightly irritated kitten when he got mad. "I sort of cheated, I wasn't using a friend example. It was more of a 'murderous alpha trying to convince me to take the bite' example."

"..." That actually made him feel better. "Good."

[robinonadderall]

"Dude did you seriously think I was talking about you?" Stiles asked. "Is that why you gave me your sad face?"

Which was only slightly different than Derek's normal brood face.

"I didn't make a face." That was just his face, damn it.

[robinonadderall]

"You don't think I've been around you enough to know when you make a face?" he asked. "And you're avoiding my question."

Foiled again! He would have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for they meddling kid.

Derek shrugged ever so eloquently at that.

"I don't think you have anger issues and I've obviously never been afraid of pissing you off," Stiles said. "I know you wouldn't hurt me no matter how tempting I make the prospect sometimes."

Then Stiles suddenly remembered their ~I believe in you~ conversation at Denny's and why Derek would be broody if he thought Stiles was afraid of him. And now he felt bad.

They talked about emotions in their own, special ways.
