Fandom Post Office, April 2 (Tuesday)

There was another terrible paperback romance novel stashed behind the counter today, and not very well at that considering Éponine noticed it right away, jammed between the computer monitor and the wall. She had no idea who kept leaving these things lying around, but she had no compunction about picking them up and reading them, either.

This proved to be a terrible idea (and thus perfectly in line with her usual life choices) about ten pages in, because her mind kept drifting off.

. . . granted, that in and of itself was normal, but usually didn't get her as agitated. Every now and then she'd think of Marius, but more often she was fixating on what Montparnasse was up to, and did he miss her? Because it had been bizarrely sweet, if misguided, of him to break her father out of prison for her sake, and . . . she wouldn't mind at all having him around right about now. To confuse matters a little further, Cosette kept cropping up in her thoughts every time she reached into her pocket to touch that five-franc piece out of habit.

With a sigh and a few muttered, colorful curses, Éponine threw the book across the room and wandered outside to sit on the front steps instead.

It was marginally better.
