The Park, Sunday Late Morning
"Dude, I hate the outside," April complained to her daughter as Hillary determinedly began to assemble a picnic on the ground. April didn't have a whole lot of picnic stuff lying around, so the blanket from her bed was now being laid out across the grassy ground for them to sit on, and a bunch of waffles and whipped cream and other breakfast stuff had been acquired from the diner on the way here. The one concession that Hillary had made to April's actual preferences was that this picnic was taking place late in the morning, rather than at eight like Hillary had originally wanted it.
"I know," Hillary chirped at her. "But I don't, and your apartment's all stuffy and boring. And I wanna toss a ball for Cliff."
Cliff, rather than looking eager at the mention of a ball, was happily dozing on a corner of the blanket.
April groaned. "Cliff hates the outside too," she told her daughter. "And grass is touching my ankle and I think I'm getting a rash. I hate this."
Hillary gave her a very unimpressed look. "Just an hour, Mom," she said -- not whining or pleading at all, because her voice was too firm for that, but just looking at April in a way that made it hard to argue with her.
April, on the other hand, was whining. "Fiiiiiiiiiiine."

After, they totally forgot about going back to the hotel and instead ended up at the park. Boaz was taking advantage of the open flat space to practice her
somersaultsgymnastics, showing off to Lasumi's giggling and clapping. And MonMon, of course."Look look Boz! I can too! Look!" And the three year old leaned over to try to do his own tumble. He was unable to go further than leaning on his head, though.
"Good job, Lasumi!" Boaz cheered him on and then ran over to help push him over the rest of the way.

Vlad was at the bottom to catch Ellie and swing her up to the ladder again. "Your Majesty is still breakable. Slide down on your butt, kid."

"Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?!" Lasumi leaned even further over to add to HIS NEW BFF's request.

(Kenzi coughed "*karma*" somewhere).
"Ask Mom when she gets here. You know she loves that."

(or so he thought, in reality, he was scooting down as best he could and making swooshing noises while waving MonMon's arms.)

Lasumi finally made it to the bottom of the slide and jumped down, his arms (and MonMon) flying into the air with a hoot of victory before he was bouncing and making obvious 'again' motions at the big boy Ellie liked.

"You're silly," Ellie said, giggling. "Lasumi do you have a big brother? They are con-veeeeni-ent." Ellie's favorite word this week.

Sort of like Lasumi was now doing himself, trying to get closer to look at the bigger boy. "Hi Conveeenyent! You inna wonton noodlz or 'dopted like Sin?" oooh! He leaned further over the edge, bouncing. "You can come home wif us!!"

Ellie nodded hard. "And she bought me at the baby store! But that's just silly. I grew in her tummy! She thinks about it and goes OOOOOOOWWWWW!"

Lance...Akatsutsumi... Lasumi, of course took Conveeenyent's reaching as an invitation to jump.no subject
Vlad dove and caught Lasumi, then asked, "Why the hell did you do that, kid?"

Victim of his genes, Vlad, sorry.

"Hi!" she smiled at the other girl as she climbed onto an empty swing and began to pump. "I like your hair!"

She nodded at Lasumi. "He's sort of my brother? I don't have a Lasumi back home, just here. I gotta look after him though because his mom is my mom."
Akatsutsumi logic. Or, you know, being six.
She pumped her legs more and sent herself higher. "I wish he was really my brother; I like him. And his Sin is nicer than mine." Had she mentioned she had a Sin in her world? No? Probably because her Sin was older and not very playful.

She was going as high as the big girl!
"Sin is Lasumi's real big sister. She stayed with her other mom last night so I don't know where she's at right now. The Sin I know doesn't have a little brother. Miss Dinah adopted her like mom adopted me."

Boaz slowed as she stared and then tried it herself... And slid right off the seat and to the ground, head first.

"I don't get hurt sometimes." She sat up, slightly stunned, and rubbed her head. At the mention of blood, she pulled her and away and looked, then bent in the other girl's direction. "I don't see any. It just hurts." Ow. Ow. Ow.
"How come you can do it and I can't?"
