The Boards [Saturday afternoon]
A masked man was lurking in the shadows of the theatre (as masked men often do). He waited until he was certain that other man had left, then began exploring backstage.
Strange...there didn't seem to be a giant chandelier hanging over the audience in this theater. How irritating.
Christine also wasn't here. It would be so much more difficult to sing creepy duets without her.
Eric Erik whirled on his heel and slid back into the darkness, biding his time.
They would be pay. Oh yes, they would all pay.
Whoever they were.
[OOC: Anyone want to meet the Phantom of the Opera?]

It was also really the only reason she had to go into the Boards, calling, "Hello? Everyone normal in here?"
no subject
...it didn't sound like Christine, but the Phantom wasn't that picky.
"Come to me, angel of music--" he sang from the shadows.
So no, Jaye. It wasn't normal in here.
no subject
"No angels here," Jaye called. "Just us... investigative photojournalists."
no subject
He seethed broodily (he did that a lot) and moved closer. She might catch a flash of cape and mask as he moved behind the curtains.
"Come to me, angel of music--"
Louder because maybe she hadn't heard the first time?

It was so hard being a disfigured guy who haunted a theatre.
"Sing once again with me
Our strange duet
My power over you
Grows stronger yet.
And though you turn from me--"
Probably to wonder about calling the cops--
"--to glance behind
The phantom of the opera is there
Inside your mind..."
And out Erik strode in his be-masked and be-cloaked glory.

Jaye raised her camera and snapped a picture.
At the very least, it would be entered as Exhibit A.

Didn't everyone want a boat ride through the sewers? Didn't they?
"Those who have seen my face
Draw back in fear
You are the mask I wear--
It's me they hear..."
Best boyfriend material ever, y/y?

"My spirit and your voice in one combined
The Phantom of the Opera is there
Inside your mind!"
He led her out of the the boards and to the nearest sewer grate.
"Sing for me, angel of music!" he commanded. In song. Because that's how he rolled.

Dammit, sewers were much easier to get into where he was from.
He finally got the stupid cover off and gave her a (totally romantic, really) shove down into the sewer.
no subject
And yet.
"Do you know how unsanitary this is?"
no subject
Especially if you also wanted to be close enough to terrorize a theatre.
He ignored her.
"Night time sharpens,
heightens each sensation
Darkness stirs and wakes imagination
Silently the senses abandon their defenses--" he sang, leading toward a boat that thankfully existed down here.
Don't ask why it did.
"Slowly, gently night unfurls its splendor
Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender
Turn your face away from the garish light of day
Turn your thoughts away from cold unfeeling light
And listen to the music of the night--"
Or the midafternoon. Shh.

"Close your eyes and surrender to your darkest dreams
Purge your thoughts of the life you knew before
Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar
And you live as you've never lived before--"
With him. In the sewers. As you do.
no subject
no subject
Probably not a plus.
"Softly, deftly, music shall caress you
Hear it, feel it secretly possess you
Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind
In this darkness that you know you cannot fight
The darkness of the music of the night--" he sang.
It was an amazing offer, person who wasn't Christine! Give in to it!

"Let your mind start a journey to a strange new world
Leave all thoughts of the life you knew before
Let your soul take you where you long to be
Only then can you belong to me," he crooned.
"Floating, falling, sweet intoxication
Touch me, trust me, savor each sensation
Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in
To the power of the music that I write
The power of the music of the night--"
Or midafternoon.

Help me make the music of the night!" he cried as he came to the end of the song...and realized there was no charming-in-a-creepy-way home to take this not Christine to.
Awkward.
He stopped rowing and looked as embarrassed as a brooding man with a mask and a cape could.
no subject
"Now what?" she asked.
no subject
Finally he began rowing the boat back to where they'd come in.
Shut up, all right? JUST SHUT UP.
no subject
"Worst kidnapping date ever," she grumbled.
no subject
Where was a chandelier to drop on people and make a hasty escape when you needed one. God.
He rowed faster.
no subject
Don't harass the Phantom, Jaye.
no subject
Riiiiight.
no subject
In her defense, kidnapping. And sewers.
no subject
"We're here. Get out," he said.
Romantic!
no subject
Because ugh, so gross.
no subject
Unless they looked in the sewers. Or the theatre.

Look, you get bored, you have access to paint, fabric... scissors. Lace. Other stuff, you wonder why no one's worked on those curtains in a while, things happen. Wonderful things. (http://s4.hubimg.com/u/1131667_f1024.jpg)
