Sam had taken a big step today, but she was thrilled with her choice so far: she'd bought the office an espresso machine.
True, 'the office' consisted entirely of herself and Emily, and true, there was plenty of coffee just down the street at The Perk, but as far as she was concerned, working at Portalocity was a multiple-cups kind of job, and being able to have those multiple cups without closing the office temporarily was critical. So. Espresso machine it was.
For the next little while, Sam could be found determinedly assembling the damn thing, finding herself frustrated once more with confusingly counterintuitive twenty-first-century technology. Coffee machines back home weren't nearly this challenging to set up -- she was a technical specialist; she could set up a modern kitchen appliance in a heartbeat. At least, she was fairly sure about that.
