There were new students on the island. It was a good excuse for Hanna to set up a new shoe display. Not that she ever needed reasons for this. New students just happened to be the latest one.

The store was open.

After class, Snow had ventured into town to see about getting the things she needed. Her first stop was the clothing store.

"Hello?" she called out as she stepped inside, staring at all the strange clothes.

Hanna placed another shoe on display before glancing over at the new customer.

"Hi," she greeted cheerfully. "Can I help you?"

From the looks of this girl's clothing, Hanna figured she wasn't from around here.

"I was told I could find clothing here," Snow said. She'd cleaned up her dress as much as she could before class that day, but the hem was still frayed, and the under dress was stained with mud and pollen and she didn't even want to think about what had been in the sewer.

"You're definitely in the right place," Hanna told her. Noticing her frayed dress, she added, "Why don't we start with getting you a new one of those."

She already started going through some of the dresses available. "We have clothing from this time period and planet, and we also have the kind you are used to."

This store had just about everything.

Snow was used to rags that were barely enough to keep her warm when winter came, but the familiar style of her world would be comforting. "Did you make these all yourself?" she had to ask. "You're very talented."

"Oh, I wish," Hanna replied. "I didn't make any of them, but I can help you look for clothes and even make some suggestions. I know something about fashion."

Look, it was the only talent she did have to brag about.

"Then I will put myself in your hands," Snow said.

But she wanted to admit something up front. "I do not have any gold," she said. "My roommate has said that he will help me, or if there is something I can do in exchange for clothing....?"

"That happens a lot here," Hanna said, thinking about her own roommate who showed up here with nothing but the clothing on her back. She didn't even have shoes!

"I'm sure we can set up a payment plan for you," she suggested. "You can pay it back a little at a time whenever you can."

Hanna would not be impressed with Snow's battered footwear.

"Thank you," she said, relieved. She almost didn't know how to deal with generosity after the past ten years. It seemed so foreign to her.

"No problem," Hanna replied, grinning. "Like I said, this happens a lot here. There's just something about this island."

She couldn't explain it, so she just started going through more dresses. "Now, let's find a few things for you."
