Devil's Nest, Tuesday Night
Emma had had a busy last twenty-four hours, between opening Dite's, going to Kaeleer, and now swinging into Devil's Nest just in time for her shift, straight from her portal.
She was going to sit behind the bar and text tonight, thanks, sending Candy pictures of her outfit from last night and getting the gossip. She had to leave out details like the fact the party she'd been at was in another world, sure, but gossip was gossip.
The Devil's Nest is open, and Emma's making Tiny do all the work. As usual.

The Bar
Re: The Bar
He couldn't join a court besides Sebastien's, but if he was going to it might well be Karla's.
Re: The Bar
Two of these things were clearly more important than the other, and both had to do with Emma. La.

"I'm not suited for serving a Queen other than myself, although I do intend to audit her Steward's books to keep the man honest."
Re: The Bar
Jack knew Karla was rather the opposite of stuffy.
"How is our -- secondary -- queen getting on?"

He glanced at Emma appraisingly out of the corner of his eye. "Is there something we should be doing about the doom and violence?" he asked. "I'm not in the court, but you are."
Re: The Bar
But Emma put down her phone and leaned back on her chair, thoughtful. "But I'm not in the court either, not officially," she finally said. "I wasn't offered a contract, because I wasn't going to go live in Kaeleer for a year or three or five, or however long this war takes. I can't put my life on hold for it."
She held out the hand with Karla's new ring, fit tidily on her right hand, next to the old one she'd demanded out of Karla years before. "It gives me the right to speak with her authority and act on her behalf when we're in Glacia, or doing anything associated with the war, but there's no contract. So, technically, I'm not Court."
When they were in Glacia, not if. Because Emma wasn't an optimist, and knew they'd be needed at some point.
"Which is all for the better, because it gives me more ways to torment the people who are in her Court and have rules they have to play by."
