Today, the DJ was taking it easy. Easy in the way that he was playing just one song for the night.

The Sound of Silence.

Yeah, that wasn't going to end up annoying the crap out of Derek at all. One of these days, that guy would get fired and everyone would rejoice. Today was not that day.

Where Derek hated Simon and Garfunkle.

Stiles would do just about anything to get away from his bouncy castle home, even put up with depressing music all night. "Did the DJ's girlfriend break up with him or something?"

"Like he could get one." Derek was bitchy tonight! The sky was blue!

"Wow, so catty," Stiles said as he sat down. "It could be worse. Somehow."

"It could be covered by Taylor Swift." Bingo!

"I thought you liked Taylor Swift." You know you lived for Red, Derek!

"No, that's you."

Accurate.

"Damn straight I do, and I'm proud of it," Stiles said. He looked down at the empty bar space in front of him. "Aren't you forgetting something?"

Derek was just going to glare at you now, Stiles. Because you? You're rude.

Pot, kettle.

"I'm waiiiiting," Stiles sang. "Come on, I'm currently sharing a bouncy castle with Jackson, I need my free source of sugar and caffeine."

Derek sighed, getting the damn drink.

"Wait, bouncy castle?"

"You're a teacher here, you don't know where your students are staying for the next two weeks?" Tsk, Derek. "We're all staying in different bouncy castles. I'm with Jackson and two other girls. You wouldn't believe how awkward it is. So very awkward."

"I don't care about my students."

"That hurts, it really does," he said. "I'm suffering out there, Derek. On multiple levels."

"My heart bleeds for you," Derek assured him, shoving the drink forward.

"You don't even understand, air mattress physics are the worst," Stiles said. "I keep rolling onto Jackson and then he hits me when he wakes up! As if I'd do that on purpose, I'm suffering from the lack of privacy but I'm not that desperate."

And again with the staring. "So sleep away from him."

Duh.

"I do!" Stiles said, flailing his arms in frustration. "I really do, but somehow I always end up back over there. It's the bouncy castle, I think it's evil."

HEY. YOU ARE A ONE WEREWOLF GUY, STILES.

"Get a sleeping bag."

"You are absolutely no help." Like a sleeping bag would stop him from rolling over there! He clearly unconsciously craved werewolf cuddles. "I can't wait to get back to the dorms. Cade's weird but he'll get the hell out when I need him to."

It took Derek a moment, but he was slowly figuring out what Stiles meant by that. "I really don't need to know."

Stiles rolled his eyes. "Oh don't be a baby, everybody does it."

Some people did it twice a day on average, even. Or would if they weren't surrounded by girls and an asshole werewolf.

LIES. NOT IF YOUR LIFE IS PAIN.

"I still don't need to know about it."

"Hey, I'm just trying to be nice and carry on a conversation," Stiles said. "Make your work evening more enjoyable."

"You're going to give people the wrong idea." No, Derek. They got the wrong idea when you used him as a scapegoat to avoid being hit on.

"Are you suggesting there are people in this town that have the right idea?" he asked.

...don't bring your logic into this.

"Just. Go find some other place to take care of things," he said, sighing.

"...that's actually not a bad idea." That was followed by a weird look 'cause Derek rarely had good ideas.

Actually this would also prove to be a bad idea for Derek.

Derek actually perked up at that. Because he had good ideas sometimes! "I do have those, you know."

Lies.

"Yeah you and Scott are probably tied now." Though Stiles still didn't think Scott came up with the master plan on his own.

Derek rolled his eyes at him. "You're running this weekend."

"What if I refuse?"

"You won't." He will bribe you with food. "You want to keep up with Scott, don't you?"

Curse your logic, Derek. "...god, yes, fine. I'll be there."

"Was that so hard?" he asked with a smirk.

"Smug isn't a good look on you." Lady cops disagreed, Stiles.

This was damn true. Plus, he had an ass you could bounce quarters off of. Lady cops also liked that.

"It'll be fun." That was a lie.

"Fun for you yeah," Stiles said. "You enjoy watching me suffer."

"A little pain is good for the soul."

Where you could realize how badly your life was going.

Where you could be important.
