After a week spent elsewhere, Kaidan wasn't as organized as he usually was--

Which was the only reason he walked into this shop on Emma's day. "...Oh, hey."

He'd actually come here to pick up some DVD-- no don't think about that.

"If you don't think it, how can I help you find the title?" Emma pointed out cheerfully. "Hello, Kaidan!"

"I can come back later," Kaidan said.

It was not the best comeback in the history of such things.

"Even if you come back later, I'll know what you bought. I just did inventory," Emma replied. "I don't judge, unless you're going seriously low-class Girls-Gone-Wild. But that doesn't seem your type."

No, Kaidan was more into women in pinstripe suits-- ahem.

He sighed. "Just don't share the details with Jack, all right?" he said.

If it'd been Jack, he would've been fairly sure he wouldn't have to ask. Since it was Emma... well.

"I don't discuss transactions at the store, this is an entirely safe place," Emma sniffed. "I'm a businesswoman, not the town gossip, and when the business is sex people have an expectation of discretion."

...Except when they didn't, because Emma. Shush.

"Now, if Jack finds out on his own because you left it in the DVD player and he was looking for Blasto, that is not my fault."

Look, no offense, Emma. He'd met you, and was a little skeptical on the discretion issue.

But he wasn't going to push it.

"That's fair," Kaidan said after a moment. "I'm just going to, uh..."

"Pick something out yourself? Or are you looking for something in particular?" Emma asked, all business.

She wasn't trying to sell him on the body glitter, despite the temptation. Emma was, actually, trying to be good.

"I'm just going to check out what you've got," Kaidan agreed, and turned towards the inventory as he did so.

Since April didn't have a whole lot of sex, there was roughly zero reason for her to be here.

And yet. She entered, made a beeline for some of the wackier bondage toys, wandered around for a few moments without saying anything, and then made her way over to dump a large box on the counter and coolly inquire, "Do you have F batteries?"

Emma jumped down off her perch on the counter - look, she'd needed a better vantage point to see what April was getting - and went over to the 'impulse buy' display to grab batteries.

"Do you want disposable or rechargeable, and how many?"

"The normal kind, and like... four or five dozen."

Yeah, don't question it.

April flipped the box over on the counter, peering at one of the pictures on the side. The non-electronic part of it seemed to be very difficult to set up, so she thought she might call her gay boyfriends to come over and do it for her. And maybe have sex. "I'm probably gonna use this a lot."

Having a conversation with April and being a telepath wasn't really that different from having a conversation with April as a normal person, really.

Whatever, if April was using it a lot, she was getting seven dozen. "You know, I gave Jono my discount that day he was in here and gremlin-bit. I could probably manage the same for you."

"Sure, I'll take cheap stuff," April decided, leaning on the counter with both elbows. "Not gremlin-bit, though."

"No, you're not. If you were, you might be in a tutu," Emma answered. "You're too sane for a bite."

She looked over April's purchase thoughtfully. "Sure that's all you want? I do do special orders."

"Last time I was gremlin-bit, I just opened Caritas like normal and spanked some guy in the back for like half an hour," April volunteered. "No tutu."

Leather, though. There had been leather.

"Yeah, I'm good with just this."

'This' being... kind of a sling thing. Which came with some other battery-operated stuff. Honestly, April was mostly into the model on the box.

"Oh, you were bit too? I was keeping an eye on Jono from the lounge, I just thought you were screwing with people." Because, well, April.

Still, she started ringing April up. "You know how to hang these, or do you need help?"

Look, she was a telepath who'd just spent the last year living in New York: you learned lots from your neighbors."

April smirked at that remark. Yeah, screwing with people without even being bitten was totally something she would do, and she was glad Emma knew it.

"Gonna get my boyfriends to do it," she said, shrugging. "Assuming they can hammer nails. That's part of this, right?"
