The Arms Hotel Lobby, Tuesday

It was still so early when Mary got to the front desk that she assumed everyone in the building was still asleep. She hadn't counted on Gunther waiting for her with mountains of small jars containing... gourmet baby food?

Apparently, Gunther had a "brilliant" idea overnight and couldn't wait to get started on his new project. And he insisted that Mary had to taste everything from the strained peas to a more unusual cherry, sweet corn and yogurt mixture. The only suggestion she could give Gunther was that everything needed a bit more salt, which only made the chef even more cranky than usual.

Who would give anything for some solid food right about now.

Well, the day was finally here. Bruce Wayne's very expensive dress shoes set foot on Fandom for the first time in fifteen years. He had a few things that needed doing, primary among them finding a place to live for a while. And where else would a billionaire playboy go than the best hotel around?

Leaving his mountain of luggage with the rickshaw driver for a moment, Bruce strode into the lobby and immediately flashed a smile at the woman behind the desk. "Good afternoon. I'm looking for a room. Preferably the best you have available for a long-term stay."

Mary set aside the latest batch of jars from the kitchen (spinach, peas and pear -- seriously, Gunther?) and smiled back. "We definitely have long-term rentals available. Do you want something ultra-fancy or just regular fancy?" she asked.

"Ultra-fancy, of course," Bruce said, his tone suggesting that there was hardly another choice.

"And I'm sorry if this is a silly question, but what's with all of the jars?"

"The ultra-fancy suites really are the best. You're in for a treat," said Mary, smiling.

She glanced at the pile of jars that had accumulated at the front desk and sighed. "I'm guessing that our head chef got a little bored waiting for royal baby updates yesterday. I really hope he doesn't think he can send all of this to England as a baby gift."

"No offense, but I think your head chef may need a hobby," Bruce joked.

"He's had way too much time on his hands since he quit gambling," said Mary, rolling her eyes. "But he's good at what he does, and the food here is fantastic. Getting room service is a nice perk to staying here."

"I've usually relied on the local restaurants when I've been in town before. But since I'll be sticking around for a little bit, I'll be sure to take advantage of his services," Bruce promised.

"It's definitely worth it when you don't feel like going out," said Mary. "Anyway, I can give you room 706. It's got a fabulous view, private balcony, and all the works."

"That sounds great. I was hoping there would be a balcony," Bruce said. Because balconies were nice. Not because they were useful to superheroes, perish the thought.

"I'd appreciate it if you could arrange some help for my luggage, and then I'll let you get back to the jars," Bruce promised.

"I'll call the bell boy to take your bags to your room," said Mary. It wasn't like the bell boy was too busy doing anything else, as he appeared in the lobby carrying more jars of baby food from the kitchen.

Bruce looked over to see the bell boy. "These jars are just a whole big thing for you guys today, aren't they?" he asked before stepping away from the desk. "Good luck with them."

The lobby is big enough to avoid Gunther and his baby food.

I have to admit that I actually get pretty hungry while straightening all the jars in the baby food aisle. They've got some fancy organic baby food options that look tempting.
