The sewers under Fandom- Thursday evening

While meeting everyone on the island was really cool and all (and sometimes disappointing; you had no idea how many people Megan thought would have been taller), it wasn't just the people they were here to see. And thus, it was time for an authentic tour of Fandom. Specifically, to where the machine was that ran the island. Think of how many notes pictures of that would get on Tumblr. Think about it.

Whether or not that tour took them through the sewers trying to find it or not remained to be seen, but that's where they were nonetheless.

"This looked so much easier to find on the show," Megan complained, because that was easier than just admitting they were lost.

Astrid

"Well, chyeah, everything is easy to find when everyone's geniuses," Astrid pointed out. She adjusted her t-shirt, which had a picture of Mordin on it. "I still think we should have turned left back by that last mold pile."

Kara

"It is certainly....realistic," Kara offered cautiously, careful to keep her "The Original Bel Fangrrrl" shirt as clean as possible. Which was a losing battle. Good thing she'd pinned those stain removal recipes on Pinterest last week. "This is super smelly."

Kelsi

Kelsi smacked her gum loudly. "And I bet there are spiders," she offered. "What episode are the sewers even in?"

She had not been the biggest fan of this entire endeavor, but her alternate suggestion of taking more photos of the hot counter guys at Mooby's had gone ignored. So, sewers.

Megan

"You mean you don't know that?" Megan asked, just a tad derisively.

She had no idea which episode the sewers were in, but she didn't want to admit it. This might also be why they were lost.

Astrid

"I think the vamp hunters have been down here a few times!" Astrid supplied helpfully. "Not sure why; no one like Eric would ever step foot down here. He's, like, way classier than that."

Kara

Kara shook her head. "Sweet summer children," she tsked. "The sewers played major roles in the fall and spring sweeps episodes a few years back."

Pause.

"But they probably were on past your bedtimes." God, she was so old. "I think we go this way," she added, pointing.

She was wrong.

Kelsi

"I just forgot," Kelsi said defensively, brushing off Megan's derision as she turned the way Kara had indicated. It wasn't her fault some people were old and grumpy, and other people were just plain old. "I call dibs if we find any prop stakes or arrows or anything."

Astrid

"We won't, probably," Astrid said. "They reuse those. And they're, like, super strict about not leaving them lying around so people like us can't buy them online. I check. A lot."

Kara

Kara nodded. "I've been trying for years to find a stake that one of the Buffys had. My daughter Quinoa has been asking me about it for Christmas."

Patrick

"You can just order it from Skymall," Patrick suggested. "I don't get it, but that's where I get all of my replica swords. She'll never know it's not show authentic."

Nonny

"Oh my god, this is worse than a con," Nonny said, rolling her eyes at everyone. Because she was the only mature one here. Sure. Doubt her and she'll call you a Nazi. "Can someone make the mouth breather go to the other side of the group?"

Patrick

"Hey," Patrick said. He didn't make an actual argument. He was just getting his monosyllabic objection on the record.

Kara

"Hey," Kara echoed in what she referred to as her Mom Voice (which was like her regular voice but more annoyed). "This is a safe spa--okay, this is a stinky, sticky, creepy space, but that doesn't mean we need to be unkind to each other!"

Kara believed "hug it out" was a valid parenting strategy.

Megan

"Do you mind?" Megan snapped finally. "I'm trying to find us a way out of here and none of you are being helpful at all, and-"

And when she turned to look back where they came, she saw a glint of something on the ground and stepped closer to look. "Huh. Check this out."

Nonny

"Check what out?" Nonny asked, shoving her way past neckbeard and grandma.

Kelsi

"See, I told you guys there'd be some props," Kelsi said smugly, elbowing Nonny out of the way. "Looks like -- jewelry?"

Astrid

"Cool, rings," Astrid marveled, crouching down next to Nonny and brushing the dust off of one of the shiny items. "Wait, maybe they're, like, the rings they use back in Karla and Surreal's world."

That wasn't... those wouldn't look like that, Astrid. Nope. Also, ew.

"Cool."

Nonny

"You don't even pay attention to canon, do you?" Nonny asked, making a face at the thought. She did snag herself a ring, though. The most bad ass ring she could grab.

It looked exactly like all the other rings.

Patrick

"Somebody just confirm for me that they're not those because I am not touching them if they are," said the boy in the group.

Megan

"They're not," Megan said, picking up a ring to see how it'd look on her finger before she actually put it on. "And please, those things are straight out of Fifty Shades of Fanfic. These are awesome."

Kelsi

"But Warren and Karla are, like, the dreamiest couple," Kelsi quibbled, grabbing for a ring of her own. "Ohmigod, check it out. This fits like it was made for me."

Astrid

"Please, Warren/Bobby are OTP," Astrid scoffed, snatching up a ring for herself. "But these are wicked cute."

Nonny

"Ew. Everyone knows the real ship is Warren/Jono."

Really guys? Really?

Patrick

"All you guys care about are ships," Patrick whined as he prodded a ring to make sure, well, who knows? Once he was confident it was safe, he put it on his finger. "Definitely seems like a ring made for a finger."

Kara

"Or a really sad, skinny little--"

Kara glanced around. "I'm totally the only who's actually seen someone else's in real life, huh."

She put the last ring on her finger. "Astral souvenir, though."

Megan

Notice now Megan was definitely not addressing the first part of that statement.

And it was totally not because she'd learned how to write her BDSM fanfic series through reading NC-17 fic, okay. That'd be silly.

"Anyway... How about we just go back the way we came and see if we can find a way out that way?" Yes, do the logical thing for once please.
