Furnado Animal Shelter, Wednesday

There was a bird in here, which was fine, but judging by the presents it was leaving, the bird hated April kind of a lot. That was less fine.

Or maybe it was just a really especially obnoxious bird. Hard to say.

April didn't like birds that much, anyway.

She made up a sign for the window clearly advertising the presence of an "awesome" bird here and hoped like hell someone would get it out of here as soon as possible.

So, Priestly had been mostly hiding out this week -- having an existential identity crisis, as you do -- but there were enough people he felt the need to apologize to that he finally managed to drag himself out from hiding drunkenly under the covers Wednesday morning to see who he could find.

So it was a very hesitant Priestly who made his way into Furnado (way more interesting name than Everything But the Monkey, really), half-hoping April wouldn't actually be there, today.

"Uh. Hi."

The annoying bird flew over to Priestly -- intrigued by his hair, no doubt. They matched!

"Well, if it isn't Chef Eunuch," April remarked very dryly. "We don't do un-castrations."

She'd figured out by now that Priestly's dickishness had probably been Fandom-induced, but that knowledge alone was not enough to make her be nice. Sorry, Priestly.

Honestly, if she was nice about it, he'd be worried.

"I deserve that," he noted, eyeing the bird suspiciously. "You didn't train the bird to crap on douchebags, did you?"

He wouldn't put it past her.

"No, it keeps crapping near me," April drawled monotonously. "What's your deal?"

"I wanted to apologize," Priestly said. "Also, thank you, because holy shit I have no idea how more people didn't just fuck me up this weekend."

April eyed him. Really?

"You're welcome for crushing your balls...?"

Priestly rolled his eyes. "Yeah, I know, I'm a fucking weirdo freak. But that was about what I would have wanted done to someone being that big of an asshole, so while it sucked, thanks." He shrugged. "The squirt gun was pretty awesome."

"I know it was." Duh, Priestly. "Anyway, I'm glad you're properly appreciative of my corrective action."

"I'm honestly surprised I didn't get more punches in the face." Seriously, he'd made Dean cry.

Admittedly, reviewing the radio broadcasts, it sounded like that was really exceptionally easy to do this weekend, but still.

"I could do that," April offered generously. "If you want."

"I think I'll actually pass. I've been -- hopefully -- douchebag free for a good three days now. Four, if you count being in a coma for a day."

"I bet there are ways to be douchey even in a coma."

He could probably have managed it, anyway.

"But fine."

She wasn't mad at him anymore, anyway.

"It was kind of a douchey coma," Priestly admitted. "But I blame the writing on that one. We, uh. We cool?"

"I don't know, are you going to cook for me?"

Yeah. They were cool.

"Well, duh," Priestly said. "And I won't even make you tell me what an amazing cook I am."

Douchebag Priestly would totally have demanded that, yes.

"Good, 'cause I won't," she told him serenely. "I'll flick peppers at your face, maybe."

"Spicy or bell peppers?" Not that he'd probably argue with either.

April looked at him like that was a simply ridiculous thing to ask. "I'm not telling."

Priestly shrugged. "Fair enough." He looked around the shelter, carefully avoiding eye contact with the friendly bird. "So. Nice place."

"Yeah, it's pretty awesome," April said -- this shelter was one of the few places on Earth she didn't feel the need to be sarcastic about. "We might be getting a baby dragon in the next few days. There's contract weirdness."

"Dude. That's freaking sweet." BABY DRAGON. ". . . How does one keep a baby dragon?" He was kind of thinking of it like keeping a pet iguana, only with larger dead rodents. And possibly hot peppers.

"Never had one," April said, shrugging her shoulders. "Want to adopt this one and find out?"

"I've already managed to inherit a red panda from a potential future teenage daughter and her girlfriend," Priestly noted. "And my doppelganger sleeps on my couch. I'm not sure my apartment has room for a dragon, too."

"On the other hand, a dragon would really complete the frat house vibe you guys have going," April countered. "You'd probably get a lot of impressed overnight guests."

Priestly pouted. "Any frat house vibe totally comes from Dean." Because the thirty-something year old was clearly closer to the whole frat scene than the twenty-one year old.

"I dunno, man," April drawled, "the last time I was at your house, you were the one cooking greasy food and then having sex on the table."

"Because you wanted to," Priestly pointed out. "Maybe you're the one bringing the frat vibe."

"Yeah, I'll take that," April decided after mulling it over for a moment. "I'm a bartender and in community college and drink more than most people. That's like all the criteria, right?"

"For girls, totally. I think guys are supposed to wear baseball caps or something." Honestly, Priestly had very, very little interest in frat culture. "How's the college thing, anyway? I've been thinking about going back."

"Zoology classes are the shit," April shared. Because of course that was what she was taking. "I actually highly recommend it. There's no wacky hijinks like on that show, but it's cool."

"Pretty sure I get all the wacky hijinks I need around here," Priestly noted.

"In your not-frat house." April arched an eyebrow. "Sounds to me like what you could use is more hijinks."

"Not if they lead to hot girls needing to crush my balls," Priestly said.

"Hey, CBT is a real fetish, man," April drawled, but she was clearly kidding. "Anyway, my nails are too long for crushing today."

And that was a very vivid mental image of April doing what she'd done on Friday with long nails.

Epic wincing, right there. Epic.

April just waggled her eyebrows.

"Just saying."

"I'm sure if I were into that, this would be very sexy."

"Dunno." April shrugged. "I'm not. I'm just guessing."
