Devil's Nest, Monday, 8/05

Jack had spent most of the weekend at Sookie and Bobby's wedding, and then staying in Louisiana for a mini-vacation afterwards. As a result, he'd missed the sharknado. But he was back exactly in time to spend much of his workday noticing how strongly the whole island stunk of fish and blood, and that Tiny was wearing a necklace made entirely of shark teeth.

He decided not to ask as he started doing an inventory check.

The DJ kept playing "Mack the Knife."

Where the blue shark is a specialty of the house.

"The DJ hates everyone, doesn't he?"

"I think that's his main qualification for his job," Jack agreed. "Do you know why the whole island smells like shark?"

"Flying sharks." Derek. What.

"I should have guessed," Jack sighed.

In other words: What.

"It was super fun," he deadpanned.

"Punch any of them?"

IT MIGHT BE KIND OF FUN.

"Maybe."

IT HAD BEEN SO AWESOME, JACK. YOU MISSED THE AWESOME.

Jack sighed. "I had a wedding to go to. You could have at least saved a shark for me."

He was kidding. Mostly.

"I'll try to do that next time," Derek promised kindly. "I'm still trying to get my jacket clean."

"Throw it out," Jack advised, just as kindly.

Derek rolled his eyes at that. "A wedding?"

"Fandom people, but I don't know that you know them," Jack said. "Emma was a bridesmaid for her friend Sookie Stackhouse down in Louisiana. My job was wearing a suit and not making a scene."

He'd performed admirably.

Derek looked suitably impressed. "I'm sure that was fun."

"There was an after-party at Eric's other club?"

Jack had preferred it to the wedding, though the wedding had been ... perfectly fine, as weddings tended to be when you weren't intimately involved.

Unlike the romance and beauty of a werewolf wedding. Under the full moon. Howling a lot. Possibly hunting down a deer to barbecue.

"Not really my scene."

Sorry for shocking you there, Jack. We hope you were seated.

Barbecue? No roasting it in a little werewolf oven?

"I'm stunned," Jack said dryly. "Anyhow, that's where I was while you were punching flying sharks to death."

Derek snorted, taking a seat at the bar. "It's always interesting here."

Where "Rock Lobster" is also in heavy rotation.

Where there may be a vampire.
