The Park, Friday Afternoon

Since the dog could not keep itself away from the wolfsbane patch, it would seem that Derek needed to take him to the park for exercise. Because, you know, all those hikes through the woods with the dog trailing after him wasn't enough.

Really.

Derek kept track of the bouncing white ball of fluff as it attempted to chase the ducks. The ducks? Less than impressed by this.

Worst predator ever, Puppy Joe.

Stiles was taking the long way back to the dorms after a coffee run (see, there was a coffee in his hand) when he spotted the ball of fluff and the broody guy that owned him.

The whistle was for Puppy Joe to come closer, not to comment on Derek's appearance. Just for the record.

And that would be the cotton ball of a dog making a beeline straight for Stiles. Because someone had trained him to enjoy being picked up and carried around.

Stiles.

"He's exercising."

"Not anymore." Because he was going to be picked up and cuddled. Stiles was clearly the lenient parent.

Derek rolled his eyes dramatically. Because he didn't know any other way to do it, okay?

"Shouldn't you be in school?"

"Only had one class today," Stiles said once he finished rubbing his face against Puppy Joe. He was so fluffy! "Got to watch a movie about a werewolf."

UGH. THEY WERE ALL TERRIBLE.

"Sounds like fun." Not at all.

"Oh yeah, you would have loved it." No he wouldn't. "Why does Puppy Joe need exercise? Is he getting fat?"

How could you tell if he was getting fat under all that fur?

"He's a dog. Dogs need exercise." And Derek needed to a reason to stop watching Netflix.

"He follows you around all the time though," Stiles said. "You're going to give him heat stroke."

Annnnd that would be Stiles putting his face against the dog again and making coo'ing noises at him.

Hey! He would not! Wait. Yes he would.

Damn it, Derek.

"There's a pond."

"You're going to put the dog in the pond?!" Stiles said. "But the ducks will eat him!"

Because ducks were known to eat dogs.

"Ducks don't eat meat," Derek replied incorrectly. So, so incorrectly.

"I think you're wrong about that." Because someone trolled wikipedia when they had too much Adderall. "They might mistake him for something food-like. Or they might think he's an enemy and attack him."

"It's not like he's helpless." He was totally helpless. Let's be real.

Stiles lifted Puppy Joe up towards Derek's face. "Look at him. Look how tiny he is. A duck could kick his ass."

"He has fangs."

[robinonadderall]

"You're delusional," Stiles said, putting Puppy Joe down. "Your dog's a wuss, just accept it."

Just because the dog was tiny and fluffy and adorable!

"He could hold his own."

[robinonadderall]

"Against a mouse. Maybe." There were some big mice out there.

"Better than you."

[robinonadderall]

"I could beat up a mouse or a duck, Derek," Stiles said. "I just don't want to 'cause it'd be mean."

"And because one would kick your ass." Said the werewolf who always lost a fight to show how serious the situation was.

Stiles rolled his eyes. "Don't get all bitchy because I called Puppy Joe out on being helpless."

"He's a fighter for his size." Which was the size of a DVD. He could kick the crap out of a DVD.

"Are we really going to argue about this?" he asked. "I mean I'm willing to fight on it 'cause I'm clearly right, but seriously?"
