Jack wasn't the world's foremost expert on owls, but he didn't think they normally perched on the top of bars. And he definitely didn't think they were supposed to curdle your blood when they hooted, as this one did when Jack tried to chase it off with a broom.
He was leaving the bird be. It seemed to be the wisest choice. Though he opted not to copy Tiny's giant hat fashion statement.
