The Devil's Nest- Sunday

The last time Jaina woke up wearing her brother's face, she'd broken a mirror and refused to leave her apartment till it was over. This time she'd skipped the mirror-breaking, refused to leave her apartment on Saturday, and woke up today deciding this was stupid.

So fine, she was walking around with her dead twin's face and no, she was not actually going to be looking in any mirrors, but this was just going to have to be a thing she had to deal with. And not talk about. And if she had a drink, well, too bad, you do this without alcohol.

Ugh.

"Well, you look strangely familiar," Batman said after taking a seat at the bar.

Nananananananana Batmeta.

"Do I want to know why?" Jaina asked, looking totally thrilled. Look, she left the house, let's all give her credit for that.

"I think it's because you look more like your regular self than most people I've seen," Batman said. To be fair, he mostly saw them while lurking.

Awesome. She might take a couple days before looking in the mirror again. "I look like my twin," she said.

"Makes sense, as much as any of this makes sense," Batman said. "I'll have a water."

"Not a problem," Jaina said, going to get that and serving it up to him. "Bet you're glad this didn't affect you guys this time."

"I have a costume ready for the possibility," Batman explained. Of course he was ready for it.

"That's both scary and admirable," Jaina admitted.

"I only wear the one thing. I'd be crazy not to have something just in case," Batman said.

"...You have copies of the one thing, right? It's just not the exact same costume every day?" Jaina wondered.

"It stands to reason," Batman said before taking a sip of his water. No, he wasn't planning on giving a straightforward answer.

"Taking that as a yes," she decided.

"This usually only lasts a couple days at most, right?" Batman checked. "It doesn't seem like a long-term issue."

"Everyone should be back to normal tomorrow morning. Which means tomorrow morning can't come soon enough," Jaina said.

"Try going to sleep early?" Batman suggested. It was probably hard to tell if it was serious or a joke. It was probably both.

"I may just get drunk, let Eric get me home, and then wake up hungover enough to forget this weekend happened," Jaina said honestly.

"I haven't met Eric," Batman said.

He knew who Eric was, of course. Batman did his research.

"Blond guy who owns this place," she said, nodding towards the VIP Section. "Super friendly."

Sure he was.

"Friendly like me? Or actually friendly?" Batman asked before taking another sip of water.

"Depends on whether he likes you or not," she said after thinking about it for a moment.

"I'm sure I'll find out where I stand with him eventually," Batman noted.

"Take video," she requested.

Ugh.

Eric had caught up on radio on his way to work, so he wasn't too surprised to see Jaina looking like her twin. "Keep drinking," he advised.

"Planning on it," Jaina said, taking another drink.

"I'll make sure you get home," he promised, which really was quite sweet coming from Eric.

"I appreciate it," she said, partly to the glass because it was just that kind of day.

Because who misses out on a chance to torture a character?
