There was a plate of croissants half as tall as Gert was by the time she showed up today, and it was sitting on the counter.
This of course meant that anyone who stopped by would be faced with croissants much taller than the girl behind the counter, which would make talking difficult, but neither Gert nor any of the cooks wanted to try moving the plate and risk knocking everything over. So Gert was just going to have to hope their customers didn't mind talking to a pile of bread.

Cream cheese croissants
