"Really, Danny, you don't need to come out here for a visit this weekend. I'm sure you've got enough going on at home with work and with your family," Mary repeated on the phone to her childhood best friend. She looked to Gunther for sympathy, but he rolled his eyes and retreated back to his kitchen. "Besides, I'm sure I'll be busy, too. It really wouldn't be a good time for us to catch up... No, you really don't need to feel guilty about not having visited before. You've got a wife and a baby and a casino to keep you busy... Of course I miss you. You're my best friend and my first love..."
Mary took a deep breath, and then went on, knowing that she'd probably regret her next words, but it would be worth it. "Hey Danny, remember when you told me that there was nothing I could do to surprise you? And I shoved you into that janitorial closet on the 36th floor and proved you wrong? I'd really love to do that again." Spotting some movement out of the corner of her eye, Mary retreated down the hall to the laundry room with her cordless phone so she could talk with some privacy.
A confused-looking Gunther was waiting at the front desk when Mary emerged 45 minutes later. He raised an eyebrow when he saw how flushed she looked and how her dress was crooked. "Think you could watch the desk a little longer? I really need a cigarette," said Mary, prompting Gunther to look even more shocked. "Oh, and you should be very proud of Danny. He finally learned how to think with his big head. He doesn't think it's such a good idea to come out here this weekend anymore."
