The Boards, Thursday

Kenzi was mistress of all she surveyed! ... except for AliasKitty, who was playing in the old costumes she'd dragged out to inventory.

Also, there were candles. A lot of candles. Tea candles. She was mistress of those, too.

Kenzi might have been confusing Jekyll & Hyde for Phantom of the Opera. Don't spoil it for her.

[ooc: Boards is open! Kenzi is doing techie things, but if you got business there, feel free to wander in. She'll be happy to be... sorta helpful.]

Of course Jono had business here-- He lived here, though he was a little baffled when he stepped inside to top up his cat food supplies and make certain he had enough power packs for his collar, only to find that his theatre appeared to be lit entirely by candlelight.

"Erm... Hello?"

Who was trying to burn down his Boards?

"It's not actually over yet," Jono replied, shaking his head a little. "We're still walking into the tiger's den, so to speak. I just needed to recharge."

He gave Kenzi a bit of a side-eye.

"What's with all of the fire, Kenzi?"

Joni, meanwhile, just seemed way more interested in trying to reach out and bat at the fire. Jono had to remove her from his pocket and hold her up on his shoulder.

"It's ... definitely a lot of fire. Jog my memory, why are we going for a goth atmosphere, again?"

They'd had gas lighting in Victorian London, Kenzi. Gas.

Jono was going to refrain from pinching the bridge of his nose, now.

"Victorian times weren't the dark ages, you know. There were some candles, certainly, but..."

Well, there was such a thing as overkill.

"Never mind. Still, rather than using actual fire on my stage, perhaps we can replace these with those battery-powered ones, at least," he sighed.

"And if it comes down to using one because of your tealights, I'll find myself seriously reconsidering my staffing choices," Jono replied dryly as Joni squirmed about, getting restless on his shoulder. "Now, before I'm trying to put out a flaming cat, can we please get rid of a few of these?"

"She'll likely appreciate it working out this way about as much as I do, then," Jono replied, smiling faintly as he watched her put out the lights.

Meanwhile, Joni was getting her claws snagged in his shoulder as she did an impressive wiggle, trying to get free.

"We'll use electric lighting, because I'm not in any mood to blow up the building, either. They sell some fairly realistic wall sconces on the internet, I'm certain."

"There's an interesting look for your cat," Jono noted, checking to be certain the majority of the candles were out before putting Joni down and letting the cats sniff at one another.

... Also effectively saving his shoulder from further mutilation.

"I see you're not wasting time getting costuming started, considering we have yet to have a rehearsal."

Oh, Joni knew all about the tangly lace. She was a theatre cat through and through by now. Lace meant she got the bad kitty spray bottle if she got tangled up in it, generally.

"Of course we will," Jono agreed with a nod. "Best to know they can handle all of that changing, considering."

Especially since, in one case, three roles were split between two girls sharing one body...

"Kaeleeran fashion is actually fairly reminiscent of Victorian London, somewhat," Jono noted, thoughtfully. "I might be able to get a lot of costuming we don't have from there, provided it isn't a warzone by the time we need fitted clothing for dress rehearsal."

And it would give him another excuse to spend more time in Glacia without people getting on his case about taking things easy, which was a plus.
