The Park, Saturday Morning

Fall break didn't mean there was a break from exercising, so Derek was going for his morning run. Which involved dragging Stiles along in some deluded attempt at getting him to the point where he could run away from dangerous werewolves.

Just... let Derek live the dream that this will one day be effective.

"You're getting worse at this." Debatable. "How are you getting worse?"

"Dude, you surprised me," Stiles wheezed. "I wasn't prepared to run today."

"You should be prepared to run anytime." Like Derek! He ran from his feelings aaaaaall the time.

[robinonadderall]

"Never going to happen, man," he said. "Can we take a break?"

Derek rolled his eyes in a dramatic manner, coming to a stop so that Stiles wouldn't, like, die or something.

Wimp.

[robinonadderall]

"Why did you drag me out here today?" he said, flopping down on the ground. "You can't possibly miss me too much, I'm only going to be gone a few days."

Derek gave him a light prod in the side with his foot. Then wait a minute...

"I thought you weren't going on the trip."

[robinonadderall]

"I'm not," he said, halfheartedly smacking Derek's foot. He was too tired to flirt properly. "I'm going back to Beacon Hills for a few days."

[justlurkinghere]

"Something wrong?"

[robinonadderall]

"Why do people keep asking that?" Because there was always something wrong in Beacon Hills, right. "No, there's nothing wrong. I told Lydia I had a break and she decided I should come home and do stuff with her and Allison."

A werewolf-free extended weekend of sorts.

Lydia who Stiles had a thing for. And Allison 'my family is crazy' Argent.

"What stuff?"

[robinonadderall]

Stiles sat up, putting his weight back on his hands. He no longer felt like he was going to hyperventilate. "Hanging out stuff. Movies, food, SAT and college prep. Maybe a sleepover if I'm lucky."

He always wanted to know what girls did during those. He imagined they probably cuddled less than he and Scott did.

"Shouldn't you be staying with your dad?" Derek asked, looking off at a looming teal deer. Yes, that was a reasonable thing to say.

[robinonadderall]

"I'm sure I will be most nights. Might spend some time at Scott's too if I can," he said. "Why do you care where I stay? It's not like I spend a lot of time in my own room here."

[justlurkinghere]

He didn't care. Stop making it seem like he cared. Nothing about this conversation involved caring.

Shut up.

"I don't care." Because the narrative didn't answer for him.

[robinonadderall]

Stiles lifted his eyebrows. "Then why did you say I should be staying at my dad's?"

[justlurkinghere]

Because shut up! "Because he's your dad."

[robinonadderall]

"You don't make any sense." Just for the record. "Why aren't you going to Italy with everybody else?"

[justlurkinghere]

He made perfect sense!

"Next week is the full moon." Not that it would be an issue for him or anything.

[robinonadderall]

"And Jackson and Isaac are still going on the trip." Which seemed like a bad idea to Stiles. "Lunar eclipse too."

[justlurkinghere]

"Jackson's control is better." And Isaac wasn't his concern. "Jack is on island."

Derek was giving him a look for mentioning the eclipse.

[robinonadderall]

"Right, right," he said with a nod. "Well have fun with that whole thing. Maybe run around the house a few times so you can feel how I do when you make me run."

Derek continued to stare at him for a moment before turning away. "Not really part of my plans."

[robinonadderall]

"So what are your plans?" He might have been stalling so he wouldn't have to get up again.

[justlurkinghere]

"What would you do if you could react to things like a human?"

[robinonadderall]

"I always react to things like a human."
