There was the barn. There were horses in the barn, munching on hay. There was the small office just off the barn where a phone kept ringing. But there was no Dani.

That's because Dani was on the mainland with a rental truck loaded down with horse feed but no spare to replace a flat tire. It looked like she wasn't going to make it back to the island for a while.
