There were a lot of portals coming into the island tomorrow and throughout the weekend, and Sam was somehow sure that something was going to go wrong. So no, there was no way she was looking up from her omni-tool without a very good reason.

The new self-service ticket kiosks were up and running and fully available for customers to use while Sam looked over the schedule of arrivals and departures for the weekend. Over and over and over again. It looked like around 09:30 tomorrow, traffic on the causeway might get a little rough...

Mike walked into the office and looked around curiously, and then started to frown. This did NOT fit within the confines of his worldview, and it seemed to reinforce some of the crazier things Apu had told him. The more he looked, the more he frowned, until he just sighed disappointedly and scratched his head.

He walked up to Sam looking a bit lost. "So, if I were to ask you just exactly what it is you do here, would I regret it?"

"I don't think so," Sam said, looking up from her omni-tool for only a second before turning her attention back down again. "But then I'd need to know more about you to say for sure. We're an interdimensional travel agency that coordinates itineraries to anywhere and anywhen you might like to go."

Without looking up, she reached for a brochure from her desk with her free hand and held it out to Mike.

[[sorry! *shakes fist at timezones!]]

Mike grimaced and rubbed his forehead. "You don't think so? Really?" He got a good look at her omnitool in the process of taking the brochure, and just sighed and shook his head. If it was faked, he couldn't tell how. If it was real... he just wasn't ready to deal with that yet.

A few seconds flipping through the brochure confirmed what the room's décor seemed to imply -- he'd jumped out of the frying pan and into the Twilight Zone. Great. Just... great. "So, let me get this straight -- and bear with me here, because I don't watch a lot of Galaxy Quest. There are these... 'portals'... in the fabric of reality, which can take me anywhere on earth, to any time in the past or future, to other planets, and even to crazy magical fairy lands... and you sell tickets?"
