The night was wearing on, the punch was spiked, the decorations were still glittered and underpantsed, and it was time for the bog announcement.

And your 2013 Homecoming Court Is...

For those being fashionably late.

Please stand by for Principal Winchester's announcement...

"Good evening," Zoe said after getting the mic adjusted. "I am pleased to announce the following members of the Homecoming Court. For the freshmen king and queen, we have a tie between Raleigh Becket and Cecil Palmer, and Daphne Blake. For the sophomore king and queen, we have Danny Vasquez and Alana. For the junior king and queen, we have Loki Laufeyson and a tie between Isabelle Lightwood and Emma Swan, and your senior Homecoming King and Queen are Victor Mancha and Jessica Drew. Please give them all a round of applause."

[And now for ~~the weather~~ reactions!]

Emma paused between snacks. "Wait...what?"

Jessica put her phone away when Principal Winchester stepped up to the microphone just in case something weird happened and she won.

Something weird happened. She won. She still didn't understand her peers. But the weirdest part took a second to register. She was here on a date with the senior King, too? So many kinds of insane.

"Wow," Victor informed her. "Congratulations, but I still kind of feel like they read my name wrong."

Their class was strange.

"Personally, I'm still waiting for recounts from last year. But apparently that doesn't happen, so you just have to take your crown and live with it," Jessica said. "Anyway, congratulations. And I guess we definitely have to have that dance now that we're royalty together."

"There is no way this school would count anything twice," Victor said, slowly shaking his head. "So, we're royalty and it's gonna stick. That definitely calls for a dance."

Cecil gave the principal his best deer-in-the-headlights look. "A tie? Can they do that?" Could he escape before anything happened?

Unlike seemingly most other people on the court, Isabelle did not seem the tiniest bit surprised to hear her name announced. Pleased and a little smug, though. Even if it was a shared title, it helped wash away the last of whatever annoyance she'd felt at Sparkle's accusations and the cake debacle, earlier.

This dance was going to end on a high note.

Victor absolutely had not expected to hear his name. He fumbled to put down his drink before applauding.

He was shocked, but he was going to enjoy it -- especially with the queen as his date.

Alana -- who had been indulging in the spiked punch -- still wasn't too clear on what exactly a homecoming queen did, but she'd accept any excuse to wear a crown. She cheered and made her slightly wobbly way to join the rest of the court.

Her and her roommate. They really did have the best room.

The drinks are spiked but not the food. Thankfully the statues have melted enough to blur some of the details.

Jessica was still over by the food, but she wasn't drinking anything at this point. She was, however, using the ice sculpture to kind f block herself from prying eyes as she regularly checked her phone for messags. Call it paranoia after what happened during Homecoming last year, but she had to check.

Jim was hanging out with a drink. He'd loosened his tie and was occasionally sending a message or two to Natalie but he was mostly just relaxing.

The spiked punch didn't do anything for Isaac but he was drinking it anyway. He made sure to clap and whistle loudly for Isabelle when she won Homecoming princess. He wasn't surprised, but he was still proud.

Despite the fact that this was his first and only dance, Flick still thought it'd been a pretty decent night. He'd come out of the dark corner he'd been in earlier to get something to drink.

And hearing Emma's name announced as the Homecoming....whatever, made him laugh but he clapped too. He was just going to tease her about it at some point.

The punch seemed to be spiked now, so Mira was having a couple cups of it. Not enough to get drunk, just enough to enhance the evening.

It's possible that there was a suspiciously shaped piece of ice in her cup acquired when nobody was looking. The poor sculpture. It didn't do anything to deserve that.

Alex stepped away from the corners to check out the whole Homecoming Court process. She'd never seen anything like that before, so she was curious. This custom was fascinating to her.

She was purposefully staying away from the punch now.

Dance, dance baby.

Victor looked vaguely sheepish as he led Jessica onto the floor for the requisite dance-of-royalty; walking around wearing a crown was a great way to make a guy feel a little like an ass.

"So, is this more or less exciting than it was last year?" he asked.

"Last year was more surprising since I had no idea it was even possible. But I ended up having some personal stuff that night, which kind of overshadowed everything else," Jessica said as she followed, wearing her tiara. "So I'm going to go ahead and declare tonight better and more exciting, due to the lack of excitement away from the dance."

Victor gave her a side-eye at that. "That sucks about last year, but you probably just doomed us to way too much excitement tonight," he informed her. He might have offered further color commentary, but the next song was starting.

Apparentlysomeone liked Mariah Carey.

Jessica was okay with the song being strangely on the nose. But if the next song was Weird Science or something, she was going to report the DJ to SHIELD because they would clearly know too much.

"I don't believe in jinxes like that anymore," she said above the music. "Things just happen whether you say something or not. Anyway, shall we?"

"Well, sure, if you're going to be all logical," Victor said lightly, and offered her one hand as he put the other on her waist. "And let's go for it."

Jessica took his hand and kind of fumbled into reasonable dance positioning. "Like I mentioned, I haven't really had the opportunity to slow dance much, so I only have a vague idea what I'm doing here."

It didn't help that in her memory, she learned to slow dance as a boy who had to lead. She was all turned around from that memory.

"I think the rule is, as long as you don't fall down you're fine," Victor said, beginning to slowly sway more or less in time with the music. "Besides, I danced at our fake Homecoming back in L.A. last week."

With Chase. And mainly to make the girls laugh. Still counted, right?

"I can be, like, your coach."

"You realize I'm going to have to call you 'Coach' for the rest of the song now, right?" Jessica checked.

How does a brightly light hall have so many of them?

Theo wasn't that shy but, after awhile, he'd shown his colors as a member of the Wallflower Club by retreating to lean against one of the walls.

He'd just watch everything going on and take a breather.

Yeah, StuCo was still passing the buck to you on the glitter-shorts.

Hannibal was mostly being amused at watching the students get drunk, and idly trying to determine which one of them had spiked the punch. He admired their stealth and daring.
