Fandom Post Office, November 12 (Tuesday)
Éponine had brought her cat in to work with her again today. This had not been a case of capitulating to Alouette's insistent pitiful yowling; she simply hadn't noticed Alouette climbing into her bag just before she left in the morning.
Well, what else was she supposed to do after that, go all the way back home again? Besides, she couldn't help being proud of her cat's sneakiness. Her attempts to convince Alouette to wear a tiny mailbag and help out on her route weren't going so well, though.
"Really," she said as she watched Alouette bat the cat-sized mailbag around the floor and pounce it like a toy, "the very least you could do is be helpful."
And then she couldn't help but laugh at herself for sounding almost like a responsible adult. Honestly now.
