Fandom Post Office, December 10 (Tuesday)
More of those little lock boxes kept turning up in the post office, though to Éponine they were a tiny bit more of a hassle than they had been yesterday -- she'd already had to pry three out of various mailboxes and had gotten a couple of fingers a bit mashed in the process. But the collective $37 she'd gotten out of them still meant another few days' worth of meals, so it all worked out to her benefit anyway.
The newcomers in the strange metal suits, on the other hand, and the vending machines -- she'd seen enough of them around the island by now that erring on the side of deep suspicion seemed like the smart decision. It meant a little longer outside in the cold every time she had to go out on a delivery run, her route adjusted so as to avoid them as much as possible, but if she was lucky that might net her another $50 or so from the boxes. (Yes, those were suspicious too, she'd decided, but useful enough to be worth the risk.)
The floor beneath the Christmas poster in the lobby had collected a sizable fake snowdrift by now. She'd given up on bothering to clean it up.
