Cookie and his crew (that was the name of Kenzi's next band) could not be talked into Lithuanian today, no matter what Kenzi sang at them. They did agree to consider it for next week, if she would cut it out with the Song That Never Ends, and they compromised on Thai today. So, new kids, enjoy the taste bud burn.

Who'll be happy to explain where Thailand is. Maybe.

Well, Toby already knew where Thailand was, but that wasn't going to stop him from stopping by to say hi.

With a box of Pot of Gold, because 1) chocolate, 2) the name would amuse Kenzi, 3) it was just a Canadian thing ~~despite the fact that Google tells me it's been available in the US for years now, it's just not the same~~.

"Hey, you. Keeping everyone on their toes?" he expected no less, really.

"Of course!" Kenzi leaned over the counter for a smooch, beaming at him. And looking hopefully at the Pot of Gold, grinning. "You're not gonna eat that all by yourself, are you?"

Toby was always up for smooches, as he so clearly demonstrated.

"Hmmm," he replied. "I dunno. Maybe if I had some grilled prawns, I might be too full to eat the whole box..."

"GRILLED PRAWNS ON THE DOUBLE, COOKIE!" Kenzi yelled back. A poorly-aimed spatula was thrown out of the kitchen toward her, but the smell of cooking shrimp came wafting out within a minute. "Ahhh. Seee? I am very responsive to your needs, Mr. Customer of the Day."

"Customer of the Day, huh? Bringing you chocolates wins a title? How come I didn't know this before?"

"So few people aspire to greatness," Kenzi said very seriously. "And also, are those chocolates just going to sit there?"

"Well, traditionally, I think dessert's supposed to happen after the main course, but for you? I could be persuaded to do otherwise." Toby said with a grin.

"Pleeeeeease," Kenzi begged, and thought I will be the best girlfriend ever! Of course, she already kind of was, right?

"ORDER UP!"

"Or we could do both at the same time?" Toby suggested.

"Plan!" Smooch! ... okay, have to stop in order to get Toby's order, but still.

The shrimp looked really good, and she yelled back, "NICE ONE, COOKIE!" and then got Toby a drink to go with. "So how's dorm life and work tricks?" she asked, fingers walking over to the Pot of Gold.

"Quiet, so far," Toby shared. "Pretty small crop of new kids this time around. Classes are-" he shrugged. "Well, they'll be interesting, I'm sure."

"Saw a few at the newbie picnic. Mostly the ones in old-fashioned outfits," Kenzi said, opening up the box. "Heh. What've you got, class-wise this time? I dropped into the Lithuanian class at the Community Center last night."

"A class about the occult," Toby said, dipping one of the prawns in the sauce before taking a bite, "and one about making friends and influencing people. Professor Skywalker wasn't around yesterday, though, so I won't know what that one's like till next week."

"Professor Swoopy Cloak Skywalker is teaching that one?" Yes, she'd had him for Ethics. And found this entire enterprise unlikely. "Okaaaay. Don't take it all too much to heart, is all I gotta say... who's teaching the Occult one?" Nom nom nom chocolate.

Well, he was mostly taking it because Professor Swoopy Cloak had the whole mind-powers thing going on, and he was hoping maybe they'd touch on that.

"Ms. Mahoney. She's new. British. And pretty nice, so far. Apparently she talks to ghosts."

"Oh cool. So if you wanna talk to her about..." Your ability to be a good listener! "...she's probably got it covered. Nice." Kenzi sneaked a noodle off his plate, nibbling on it as she thought. "Do you think Fandom has helped you out with 'stuff'?"

"A little, maybe?" Toby said with a shrug. "There've been a few people who can uh- do what I do. Or pretty close. But they all seemed to have a better handle on it than me," he admitted.

Kenzi popped a chocolate into her mouth, and squeezed his hand, thinking. "Do you wanna get better at it? 'Cause I know, sometimes it's a real headache and all."

"Literally," Toby said, lips twisting in a small smile. "And, I mean, yeah, it'd be nice?" But he wasn't counting on it or anything. "Why, do you know someone?" He wouldn't put it past her to have a name or two up her sleeve.

"Maaaybe." Jonothon had to use his now that his ... face, was gone. Maybe he'd have pointers for Toby? Would it help or hurt to ask? "Gotta sound the guy out about it. Not sure how he'd feel about it. If Karla were still here, I'd bug her for you, 'cause she did stuff like that." She tilted her head. "Maybe she'll have some ideas, next time she's back. If you're okay with me asking either of them."

"Couldn't hurt, I guess," Toby said with a nod.
