Bay spent most of her morning in a spirited text exchange with Daphne, ignoring the freezer expedition that was occupying most of the kitchen staff. (Best finds so far: A whole goat and an entire case of dragon fruit.) It turned out that the cost of keeping Carlton open was making the school for the deaf a dumping ground for all the hearing kids who were too much trouble for the other schools. So now there were fistfights every day and nobody was happy.
Bay suspected she shouldn't have been surprised. Eventually, she set her phone aside and joined the next team going into the freezer.
