Curiosities, Oddities, and Antiques - Saturday
Cecil was a bit out of sorts today. He'd called Carlos to talk, and he'd hardly been able to get the words out! He'd stammered a couple times, even. Carlos had been sweet about it, but still.
Regardless, he had a job. So he'd bundled up himself and Foucault and headed out to the antique store. It was open and getting warmer, he had the shrunken heads arranged cheerfully in the window, and he was trying to avoid whatever that noise was in the back of his head.
He was sort of succeeding.

Kenzi sang out, "~My father was a paper plane, my mother was a windswept plain...~" And the images from Children's Work (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSxSCv7Cegc) formed in front of her as vaguely colored images. "HOW COOL IS THAT?"

Ugh, words.

Shaddup.
"I didn't either! Just since this morning! It's like Roland's thing!" ...which was way more cool and complicated, and he could make you feel things with his music, but Kenzi wasn't that good a singer.
She laid down a couple drumbeats with her shoes, though, and you could almost believe they were dancing. "You get to do anything new today like this?"

Cecil thought about it. //It's been a pretty boring day so far, except for talking to ♥Carlos♥, which UGH.//
...It was entirely probable he didn't realize anyone else would hear that.

These things were important! Equally important!

Oohhhhhhhhhh. "Think something else at me! Tell me more about Carlos!" Test that theory, Cecil!

There. Actually, that was easier. Maybe if he couldn't give it back, he'd talk like this more often.

Her shoes are broken you see. Not her ability to walk, jeez.
"You are so telling me allll about Carlos, dude. Eventually."

Maybe telepathy wasn't entirely better than speech. Or maybe Cecil was just loopy in love.

Cecil sighed happily. Then less happily. He switched back to talking, because using his mind was a bit of work, and anyway he didn't much care if the next bit came out awkwardly. "Well, he was. I mean...we were...um...dating. And maybe kinda still are? But I'm just so young now," his voice broke again, as if demonstrating, "and he won't do anything, and I sort of get it, but I'm still me!"

Cecil huffed. //Time isn't the same in Night Vale. So...I was born in '71, and now it's 2014, but I think I was 34? Ish? A couple of my birthdays got cancelled. And apparently that's not quite right, either. Carlos did some math.// He shrugged.
Welcome to Night Vale science, Kenzi.
