Stark Industries | Saturday

Topher was annoyed but not traumatized. He was annoyed because he had intended to take a picture of himself in the repair shop today to email to his college to put on his student ID card. But he just didn't have it in him to be traumatized anymore, given that this was the third time this had happened to him and nothing was ever going to top the first time.

Actually, in contrast to previous years, there were aspects of this transformation that he could even find appealing in some ways. Girl Topher was kind of decent-looking, to be honest. Topher felt, and said out loud, that he was confident enough to accept that.

"I don't think anyone suspected that a lack of confidence was the issue, Mr. Brink," Jarvis told him.

By now, whenever this happened, Billy had steps he went through. Step 1: Acquire a bra from the depths of his drawers. Step 2: Find something to wear that covered everything. Step 3: Find Topher.

Thankfully, it was a Saturday, so Billy knew where to head first to look for Topher. "Hey," he said, frowning a little as he came in. "How's it going?"

"My bra is chafing," Topher complained. "Why don't they make more comfortable versions of these?"

"I've almost gotten used to this by now. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not," Billy said. "I got a bra without underwire and it's pretty awesome."

"Is that this part?" Topher asked, pretty much jabbing himself in the boob to demonstrate. "Ow. That sounds way more comfortable. I'm jealous."

Well, as jealous as one could really be of someone else who was currently genderswapped.

"Hey, upside: at least this is probably our last one of these, if it sticks being an annual thing," he pointed out.

"Yeah, this stuff can't follow us to college. Right?" Billy said, shuddering a little. "Freshman year might be bad enough."

"Yeah, definitely hopefully," Topher echoed. "Or if you do get a girl roommate, you can join a frat, where you'll be assured safety from girl roommates forever." He'd been studying up on college by watching movies, obviously.

"I don't know if I'm fraternity material. I'm still worried I'm not college material," Billy said. "Does Stanford have frats? Or is it all about learning?"

"I think there's frats," Topher said, not wanting to share that he'd done an embarrassing amount of research on all aspects of the Stanford social scene. "But dude, why wouldn't you be college material? You work at a library and you're the second hugest nerd I know." That was a loving compliment! "After me, obviously."

Billy was certainly going to take that as a compliment. "I don't know, I'm just not sure if I'm ready for four more years of school. I don't even know what I want to major in."

"Well, what do you like?" Topher was definitely overestimating how easy this should be, just because it had been a pretty easy call for him. "Anyway, you can go in undeclared and choose later. And you like school, right? I mean, learning stuff and everything? College is just that, but with smarter people than in high school."

"I like a lot of different things. It's just... scary, I guess? Because everyone else seems to have figured out what they're going for and I'm not even sure if I want to go to school yet, or defer and like, do hero stuff." That sounded so stupid when he said it out loud. "Or try to find my mom." There, that was less stupid.

Billy nodded, unable to keep from looking a little excited. "I mean, I know college is really important, and I wouldn't blow it off forever or anything. Just like... a semester? Just to have some time to look for her? Without having anything else to worry about?"
