Valentine's Day Dance - Town Hall, Friday Night

It was time once again for the Valentine's Day dance, and Town Hall was transformed to the theme of animal magnetism. There were heart-shaped magnetic garlands everywhere, animal-themed valentines scattered on the tables, a copious amount of the inevitable glitter dusting most flat surfaces -- and the faintest whiff of goat in the air from the petting zoo set up in a side room.

The doors were open, the punch was unspiked, and the dance was ready for all attendees of any species.

Jessica really couldn't believe that Loki came through on the goat. For some reason, she thought he was joking when it was suggested. She had to remember to never assume that.

Anyway, she had a nice (http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/chord-ially-yours-dress-in-magenta) dress and plans to head back to New York tonight after the dance just in case anything strange happened this weekend. She was on a tight timeline. She couldn't lose another weekend to any kind of weirdness.

... It's possible she wasn't the biggest Valentine's Day person around....

Celia had spent entirely too long on her appearance today, and as it was, she kept...changing things. The dress had started out a deep red frock from her own closet, but she'd lightened it to pink straightaway. Then she'd brought the sleeves up after a moment's questioning, and added a pair of elbow-length lacy white gloves ().

The last change had come when she'd walked in, and noticed the length of the other girls' dresses, by and large. She'd hastily waved her fingers at her hem, and brought it up to knee-length (though she wouldn't leave it be, now, and kept smoothing down the edges.) She'd laced the pink carnation from Alana and the white one from Cosette into her hair, too, which she'd left down and tumbling over her shoulders in loose curls, for once.

Yeah, it was the full moon. And yeah, Jackson was here anyway, dressed head to toe in some really flattering Hugo Boss. And he had a date, too. He didn't have to care about the full moon. He was stronger than that.

... Okay, so he was feeling a little antsy. But he was keeping that feeling pushed way down. If he ignored it, it would go away. Right?

It would not be the only time by far that Atton showed up to a fancy dance wearing his usual clothes, and he hadn't even bothered to wash them this time.

Look, he was only here for the punch - and for snarking on the gaudy decor.

Maybe it had something to do with the official sort of events on Majesdane last summer, but Karolina was getting better at this whole school dance thing. She'd even put a tiny bit of her inheritance towards a new outfit. Sure, the dress was a little on the short side for what she tended to go for, but that was what the space-themed leggins were for!

And now she was peering curiously at some of the decorations around. It was... definitely a Fandom kind of theme.

Liara had only recently become employed: she did not have the money to pay for anything but the yellow dress that she already owned.

She seemed a little self-conscious about that, eyes darting to other people's formal wear from time to time.

Raleigh had on an ill fitting suit with a tie that was clearly clip on. But he was there and ready for the dance. Sort of.

No skulking for Isabelle! Just striding in, looking confident. Mint green dress, ruby pendant hanging low on her chest, and a smile on her face.

She was ready to have fun.

Alana's green-and-black dress was a lot more fitted than her normal wardrobe, and she had to remind herself not to keep tugging the skirt down.

She surveyed the room with satisfaction. The holiday still seemed weird to her, but she thought the dance looked fantastic. You could hardly even smell the goat.

No dressing up for Cosette, who was in one of her usual plain and not-terribly-flattering black dresses, though now that she was here and looking around at what other people were wearing, she was beginning to reconsider the state of her rather limited wardrobe. Maybe she could talk Father into letting her get some new things? It wasn't as if she ever had any trouble talking him into anything she wanted . . .

Jim hadn't heard the weird voices today so he was counting that as a win and a motivator to get dressed up and head down to the dance.

Hopefully he'd remember to send something to Natalie at some point because right now his player had no access to pretty stuff he was slacking.

Will was suddenly very grateful that he'd managed to get a suit during one of his shopping excursions with Ajay back at the center. It meant he had something to wear to a dance he was sure to feel weird at.

But, he still had a suit so at least the dress code would work okay.

Eleanor had had handwavey modded SP help in shopping, which was why she didn't just show up in jeans and a usual shirt.

The dress (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v328/Rellyjean/eleanor/001287.jpg) Sparkle had helped her to find was very cute, and Eleanor didn't know enough about Valentine's to realize that most people didn't wear black for the occasion. Win/win.

The outfit Joker arrived in was actually not all that different from the twentieth-century equivalent that a lot of the guys were wearing -- dark suit jacket, dark slacks, light shirt, and a tie. Also, his baseball cap.

Rilla hadn't worn colour since Walter had been killed and tonight was no different. Her dress (down to the floor because she wasn't a child, thank you very much) was white (http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m2cqld4Qe21qf46efo1_400.jpg), though the roses in her hair were crimson, both in reference to the holiday and her own personal nod to Kenneth in France. His mother was never out without a splash of red somewhere in her outfit.

Cecil was in his butterfly dress again, because it was AWESOME. And in sensible boots, so that when the carnage started he could run. If he was looking a little twitchy, well...it was Valentine's Day.

Moddable as usable. Prominently featured are a range of fountains (chocolate, cheese, ranch sauce and ketchup) with foods to dip into them.

Atton could be caught with a toothpick hanging idly out of his mouth as he picked through the spread. And the fountains. Ranch sauce fountain? Damn, this was getting weird.

Loki was still sad he could not sneak Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder out of Asgard for the occasion. It was probably for the best, though. He did give the foul smelling little goats in the zoo and extra pat on the head.

And then shooed them away from trying to eat his shoes.

Celia didn't hate the songs, or anything like that. She'd simply...never been to an event like this, and much as she was loath to admit it, she was intimidated.

The corner, she felt, was a good place to stay for the time being. Here she could fidget with her skirt without question (it was so bloody short, surely everyone was judging her be-stockinged legs) and people-watch. That was the most interesting bit to her, anyway.
