The Perk, Sunday Morning
As she'd promised, Natalie had hopped a portal from Ribeirao Preto to Fandom this morning, booked herself a room at the Arms, and then texted Jim to meet her at the Perk for family breakfast. No matter how weird it was to phrase it like that.
And so now, she was enjoying a hot chocolate at a table by the window, handling some work stuff via emails from her phone. Both because she wanted to stay on top of things and get as much done before devoting her attention to Jim and their kid, as well as to distract herself from the knowledge that for the first time in a while, there were AU kids around and neither Ada nor Lilith seemed to have put in appearance.
She didn't know how to feel about that. So she just didn't think about it.
[ooc: Natalie is here primarily for the kid and his dad, but the post is open for Nat-bothering as well as completely unrelated Perk needs!]

He pushed the door open with all his strength and looked around.
"Hi, Mom!" And then he waved at her.

"Hi ––" And here she was going to call by name, except whoops. "... Your dad didn't actually tell me your name. I'm sorry."
no subject
Hey, he had some of his dad's genes.

He didn't elaborate.
"Dad's asleep still. I saw his phone when I woke up."
no subject
"Well, he had a long day. You shouldn't have snuck away without waking him up, though."
no subject
A fact he'd inherited from his dad.
"I know how to get around. I've got the run of the ship back home."
no subject
She was wondering whether that ship thing was just a saying or something literal, but she didn't ask. For now, anyway.
"Also, I really more meant that he's going to freak out when he wakes up to find you gone."
no subject
"Have any snacks?"
He was hungry again.
no subject
"We're at a coffee place," Natalie pointed out. "So no, I don't have snacks, but I can buy you something for breakfast."

Said the kid who was used to getting what he wanted.
"There aren't any good donuts on the ship. We only get those when we're planet side with you or something."
no subject
"So... We live on a space ship?"
no subject
And she was a jetsetter and all.
no subject
"Jim's a captain?" She asked, although she couldn't say she was all that surprised. Vague memories from the reunion weekend, and all. "Huh."

She couldn't be bossed around.

"Leave a note next time," he said grumpily, walking over and rubbing sleep out of his eyes. "Hi, Natalie."
He hadn't quite freaked out but he'd thought he'd misplaced the kid for awhile, yes.

She patted the seat next to her. It just really felt like the time to be sitting next to him.

Jim...put his head down on the table and groaned.
no subject
"So I guess I'll skip asking how you're holding up."
