Okay, so Tamsin listened to the radio - mostly so she'd know when to expect anything with fangs showing up on her doorstep - so it wasn't like she was completely ignorant of the children's fun parade running around downtown. Did she care, though? Not really.

She ignored Ralph and his little tin-bucket-faced Mini-Me on her way in and poured herself a cup of coffee.

Which, to her credit, she didn't actually drop all over her files when a smallish (okay, not that smallish) blonde... thing... suddenly jumped in front of her from stage left and shouted, "Boo!"

"Seriously?"

"No, seriously would be--" Ilse struck an overdramatic stage pose, hand grasping her heart, and intoned, several notes lovwer than her natural voice, "BOOOOooOOOOooo."

"Ugh," Tamsin said succinctly. "Who are you and why are you in my face?"

"Aww, that's so sweet - you haven't said Good Morning to me like that since I was small enough to run in and jump on your bed during prime hangover hours!"

Tamsin's stare got a little harder. "You better not be one of those kids running around right now."

"Of course I'm not one of those kids running around right now. I'm here." If she were running around, she'd be someplace else. There wasn't room to run around in here. Not without running into a desk. Or Ralph.

"What do you want?" Tamsin asked. This was running into valuable coffee-and-ignoring-Ralph time.

"Well, I did want you to tell me what's going on and how the hell I got here, but I kinda picked that up after bumming around for a day, so now I want to do what I do every Sunday morning."

"Don't you have somebody else you can bug?" Like, maybe, another parent?

"Sure, but it's more fun to bug you together. Where is she?" Ilse rolled her eyes. "I tried calling, but she's changed her number."

Between now and at least fifteen years from now. Go figure.

Tamsin planted her hand on the desk. "I'm going to entertain this for one second," she warned. "Who are you talking about?"

That was some quality eyerolling, there.

Tamsin put her coffee down and crossed her arms.

Then she raised an eyebrow.

Sigh.

And that was some quality sighing, too.

"Bo. Dennis. Please tell me you've at least met her. So high--" Which was... about as high as Ilse, because genetics was a dick and could blow her. "Rack I only wish I'd inherited instead of yours?"

"My rack is fine," Tamsin said, rolling her eyes. "You're kidding me. The succubus? Really? Ugh, my taste."

"It's not bad." Let her mother try to guess whether she meant the rack or the taste. "But I wish I'd got your height instead."

"What did you wind up with?"

Might as well scope out the threat-factor.

A really good pout, that's what. "Freaky eyes and no damn clue whether that means I got your powers or hers yet? I'm fifteen; Mom says hers didn't show up until about three years later."

Tamsin let out an annoyed sigh. Groan. Whine... thingy. "I'm going to call your mom and she can deal with you," she said, reaching into her pocket for her phone.

"Tell her I brought doughnuts!"

There were no doughnuts.

"...Can I have some money for doughnuts?"

"Ask your mom," Tamsin said, sending a quick text Bo's way. It was a very helpful one:

Your kid is here. Take her off my hands before I kick her out. Bring doughnuts.

Several minutes and a dozen doughnuts later, Bo sidestepped Ralph Junior to make her way over to Tamsin's desk, her voice floating ahead of her. "We need to talk about just who gets to eat these doughnuts, Maeve. You're supposed to be with Kenzi, not running around by... that's not my kid."

"Yeah, she is," Tamsin said, leaning over to grab one of the doughnuts. "Have fun!" Aaaand striding past.

"Whoawhoawhatnow? Hold on just a minute there, blondie." Bo put out an arm to block her path.
