Hannibal nodded and greeted everybody as usual. "Good evening. I had thought to cover sports terms this week in honor of the Olympics, but the island rather changed my mind. So. Tonight's vocabulary:

"Vaikai. Too many vaikai." Kenzi was still a little groggy from catching up on her sleep.

"Per daug vaikų," Hannibal corrected. He shrugged. "Aš turėjau vieną dukterį ir vieną sūnų. Aš maniau jis buvo įdomus. I thought it was interesting. Kiek vaikų jūs turite? How many children did you have?"

Kenzi baredly followed that, although she caught "son and daughter" as they whizzed by.

"Damn." She couldn't remember the numbers. "Three dukra. One vyresnioji, two jaunesnioji, same age. Maniacs."

"Tris dukteris," Hannibal corrected. "Vienas vyresnioji, du jaunesni. Maniakai," he added with a chuckle. "Vaikai turi daug energijos. Children have a lot of energy."

"So much. Energijos. Maniakai." Kenzi groaned. "They weren't even full-blood sisters, but they acted like they were twins of evil. And never sleeping. And pushing limits."

"Dvyniai, twins," Hannibal said. "Blogis dvyniai, twins of evil. Children are designed to push limits, to see what they can get away with. But having them suddenly isn't generally how it works."

"Blogis dvyniai," Kenzi said fervently. "Superpowered twins, though, when you don't have any? That much worse. Holy crap I'm glad Toby could keep them in line."

"Is there a word for triplets?" Jack asked groggily.

"Trynukams," Hannibal answered, raising an eye. "Alternately, nemiga - sleeplessness."

"How do you say 'weird immaculate birth miracle child with a bad attitude'?" Priestly asked.

You know, just in case that was a phrase in Lithuania.

Hannibal blinked at him. "Keista nepriekaištingas gimimo stebuklas vaikas su bloga požiūris. Do you anticipate that coming up often?"

"Depends on if my, uh." He frowned, trying to get the pronunciation right. "Keista nepriekaigas gimimo stebklas vaikas su blo požiris? decides to come back next year."

That was even actually close. Miles above where he was when the class started up for the semester.

That was much improved! Hannibal nodded his appreciation before correcting a few of his words. "I'm told these children return regularly."

"It was my second time with this particular teenage daughter," Priestly confirmed. "This kid was new, though. Swore up and down he was a gift from God. Non-ironically."

"Did he say how he knew this?" Hannibal asked.

"Straight from the horse's mouth?" Priestly guessed. "His other dad is a) my doppelganger from b) a universe full of demons and ghosts and things where c) his bestie is, like, an actual angel and he may or may not have met God personally, so. . . ." He shrugged. "I didn't really question it a lot."

Home-brewed beer
Honey- and ginger-infused vodka

Oh, Jono was good and amused by the fish and chips today, yes.

"Nonsense," Hannibal answered at his driest. "What on earth would I have to say?"

'Sludge', Jono. Sludge was not food.

Sludge could be amazing, thank you very much!

Call it a hunch.

"There is a reason for everything," Hannibal answered.

And it wasn't at all that he liked having the last word in an argument.

Oh, no. Jonothon certainly couldn't see that being the case.

Especially since, if Hannibal wanted to have a last word that actually proved some point, he'd really have to lower himself to eating some of that greasy pub food that Jono was so fond of.

"Thank you." Hannibal quirked a little smile at him. "Shall I share the tastes again, or are you still recovering from Sunday?"

Well. That came out wrong.

Hannibal smirked a little and decided to start with the NOT AT ALL GREASY, delicious fish.

"Don't worry," he said gravely, "I'll be gentle."

No, Angela hadn't gotten all her brat from Jono.

Before or after class, if you need him.

Damn it, now I'm hungry!
