Dite's Decadent Delights, Friday

There was something a little... off... about Dite's when Sparkle came in for his shift today. Oh, it was full of decadent delights, certainly. It was just that they were a very different sort of decadent than the decadent that he was used to.

It kind of looked like he'd stepped into candyland or something when he entered the shop, and he had to go outside and look at the sign and the street address to be certain he was in the right shot. Even the giant metal rooster was painted up in peppermint colours, and the delights? Well. They were delightful. Just probably not the kind of delightful that you wanted to use that way. Unless you had some weird bubblegum kink that he didn't want to know about, ever.

Sparkle sighed and sat behind the counter, sucking on a lollipop. He wasn't going to think too hard about what had happened to all of the usual merchandise. A retail job was a retail job, and people could probably still buy condoms at the T&C if they needed them that badly.

He hated this stupid island.

In between classes, Cecil dropped by. He really just wanted to talk to Sparkle, although, hey - candy was nice!

"Hi!" he waved. "Did you have time to ask that kid about going to Night Vale yet? Also, do you have any candied fire ants?"

"Uhm," Sparkle replied, super intelligently. "I don't think the kid's going to want to go. She barely trusts me, you know? I just kind of show up, give her food, and then scram before I can freak her out."

He sulked a little into his lollipop.

"And, uh... I have no idea. I've only been working in a candy store for a few hours. Where would they even put those?"

Cecil shrugged. "Next to the chocolate-covered grubs, usually." He hopped up on the counter. "Oh, well. I can bring you back some sand and heat?" he suggested.

"Cecil, man, if you can bring me back a bottle of summer, I will personally order in all the candied ants your heart desires."

Could you even get that into a bottle? Sparkle kind of wanted to know, now.

[voiceoverdue]

"If I can do that...well, you're only getting it if I can make two!" Cecil would definitely have to look into that. Summer would be really nice!

"Totally worth looking into, right? Get that scientist boyfriend of yours on it, huh?"

Hey, weirder things had happened. Even, like, just today.

[voiceoverdue]

"I'll ask!" Oh, it really would be so nice. "I can't believe I hadn't thought of it before."

What was weird about today? It seemed perfectly fine to Cecil.

Nope, totally weird. The cheekbones that Sparkle liked to stare at were different today, and the toys that Sparkle liked to torment curious virgins with were missing, and he could go on and on and on, really.

Super weird.

"Worth a shot, right? Stranger things have so happened."

"Have they?" Cecil grinned. "Neat!"

"You, my friend, are a strange one," Sparkle shared, reaching to pat him on the shoulder. "But hey, whatever makes you happy."

Just so long as it didn't get Sparks killed.
