Mooby Land, Monday Afternoon

Derek had spent too much time on the mainland attempting to find tools to, ah, deal with the problem concerning Peter and his weird resurrection. Which was why he had an ax in a plastic bag.

And for some reason he felt this was a perfectly acceptable thing to bring with him into the restaurant while he waited on his massive food order.

In his defense... there really was no defense for this. But he was waiting patiently for his food. Which was odd because this place wasn't busy. What was the hold up?

It was kind of the weather where staying in bed all day would be perfectly acceptable but Stiles wanted curly fries. When you want curly fries you had to have curly fries, okay?

He didn't actually notice Derek at first. He needed curly fries that badly.

Derek totally noticed him. And was deeply upset to find there was no clear escape route that wouldn't put him past Stiles. Other than going through the kitchen...

Tempting. Very tempting.

Now to not be socially awkward and say hello. Smoothly. "Hi."

Aw yeah.

Stiles jumped slightly, hand immediately going to the scarf around his neck. "Oh, hi."

Now for some awkward silence.

Yup, that was totally what they were doing, wasn't it? Derek quickly looked away because he noticed the scarf and the hand and the everything.

The menu up above the registers sure seemed interesting right about now.

"Is that an ax?"

[justlurkinghere]

"How are y--" Well, maybe he shouldn't have started talking the moment Stiles did. That could have been helpful. "--yes."

Stiles blinked. "Were you about to ask how I was?"

"Yes." Look, he panicked!

[robinonadderall]

"You never ask me that." Because it was polite and everything.

[justlurkinghere]

"Yes I do." He had to have at least once in the time they'd known each other, right? Right.

"You're being weird," Stiles said. "The ax is actually the least weird thing about you right now."

[justlurkinghere]

"The ax isn't that weird." It was so weird.

[robinonadderall]

"I think the reason they haven't brought us food yet is because they think you're a psycho with an ax." Just saying.

[justlurkinghere]

"Wouldn't it make them bring out the food faster so I don't kill them with it?" Derek. Derek, it's things like that that make people think you're a serial killer.

"They're probably terrified to get near you," he said. "They don't know what a teddy bear you really are."

[justlurkinghere]

Derek sighed, just wanting his food. "Nice scarf."

Look, he had to say something.

"Yeah Kitty complimented me on it too," he said, turning slightly red. "Didn't mention it was your fault."

He pulled the scarf down slightly to show Derek his own handiwork.

"You talked to Kitty?" Derek asked, trying and failing not to keep looking at Stiles' neck.

[robinonadderall]

"Yeah," he said. "She's not very pleased with you for some reason."

[justlurkinghere]

Derek rolled his eyes, focusing back on the menu. "You didn't answer."

[robinonadderall]

"Didn't answer what?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

"'How are you,'" Derek repeated.

[robinonadderall]

Yeah that wasn't any less weird. "I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be fine?"

It had been like a day and a half, Derek, even Stiles couldn't get into too much trouble that quickly.

Derek looked at the scarf. Accusing.

Stiles rolled his eyes. "Yes, that's fine too."
